Maybe because today is the day a new adventure begins, an adventure that’s going to change my life.

The door knocks again, and I give myself a mental pep talk as I extend my hand, clasping it around the metal doorknob before twisting it open to reveal Lilly standing there with a smile on her face.

Clearing my throat, I open the door wider. “Hi.” I say, my throat still sounding a little clogged.

She giggles. “Hi.”

I smile, gesturing for her to come in. “Welcome to my humble abode.”

She laughs as she walks past me. “Well, thank you, kind sir.” She bows.

I chuckle as I close the door behind me. “Uh, so…” I don’t know what to say.

“Phase one.” She says, taking one of two tote bags off her shoulder and handing it over to me.

Grabbing it from her hand, I grunt from the heaviness. “What the fuck is in here?” I ask, going to peer inside.

“Books.”

“Books?” I repeat.

“Uh-huh,” she nods with a grin. “So, are we doing this in the entry hall, or are we going somewhere more private?”

Clearing my throat, I glance around and say. “Uh, somewhere private.”

“Well, lead the way then.” She smiles.

Clearing my throat again, I gesture for her to follow me upstairs. Opening my bedroom door, I walk in and wait until she’s inside before closing the door and locking it behind me. None of the boys are home currently, but they’ll soon start returning, and I didn’t want any of them to disturb us.

“Ugh, I missed you,” Lilly hums as she walks directly over to the typewriter, then she turns to look at me. “You kept the paper in there?”

“Yeah,” scratching the nape of my neck, I walk toward my bed and place the bag down. “So, the books?”

“Ahh, yeah.” She chuckles, walking over to me.

Grabbing the bag, she flips it upside down and a mountain of books cascades over my blue comforter. It’s been almost a week since I asked her to tutor me in sex, and I don’t know why I’m so anxious about starting “phase one” as she called it.

And it’s got me questioning how many phases there’s going to be.

“Right,” she starts, picking up a book and opening it. “As you can see, Callie has tabbed them,” she turns the book to the side showing colorful tabs, the same tabs I use for studying. “But we’re only going to focus on one color.”

I look at her. “Uh, one color?”

“Yes,” she nods, flipping to a page. “Here she’s written down some stuff, but we’re going to focus on the spicy tabs, which are the darkest blue ones.”

I nod, looking down at the six colored tabs and what’s written beside them.

They’re all blue, but in different shades.
