I whined his name, unsure if I could physically handle the heat ricocheting inside me. I’d never experienced something quite so intoxicating, that made my veins feel drugged with pleasure and my head dazed with delight.
“I’m right here, baby,” he promised. His grip on both my hips tightened again, encouraging me, helping me to move. To rock over him, continuing the wave of heat as it coursed through me. “This is what you wanted that night, right?”
“Hm?”
“When we were here, and you were fucking yourself on your fingers for me.” His eyes darted to the side, where I’d sat that night when we watchedThe Princess Diaries. It felt so long ago now. “You wanted to crawl into my lap and ride me.”
A nod was all I could manage. “I did.”
“Then ride me, baby.” He gave my hip a little slap that made a moan roll out of me. “Take what you want.”
After brushing my lips over his, I straightened, bracing my hands on his shoulders. And then I rode him, letting himfill me over and over again. And when Sully couldn’t seem to take it anymore, he began tilting his hips, too, thrusting up to meet me. The sounds of slapping skin fill the room, andfuck.
“Oh,God,” Sully groaned, giving another encouraging smack, this time on my ass, that sparked a new wave of heat. “Fuck yes, Eleanor. Watching you like this is—” He shook his head. “Unbelievable.”
He ducked his head then, his mouth meeting his hands as they both zeroed in on my breasts. His large palms cupped me while his lips caught my nipple between them, causing me to cry out, overcome with a flood ofSully, of everything good in this world, andoh my God, I was going to come. It felt too soon, but I was absolutely going to lose it.
I moved with renewed conviction, finding the angle that hit just perfectly—where I could feel him both deep inside me and also grinding against my clit. It was magical and beautiful. Sully’s lips were dancing over me, breathing my name between leaving love bites on my skin, and now I wascryinghis. His name was the only thing in my mind, and he was the only thing that mattered in existence as I came around him. I rode a wave of pleasure that felt never-ending, a panting, shivering mess. His mess.
“Oh my God.” Sully flung himself back on the couch, unfazed by the way I was digging my nails into his shoulders. He seemed to only care about catching a glimpse of my expression as I soared to heights I didn’t even know were possible. “Oh, God yes, El. Squeeze my cock, just like that. Fuck, you’re so pretty when you come. Sofuckingpretty. There is nothing on this Earth as pretty as you. Nothing in the fucking galaxy. Jesus, I love you. I love you so goddamn much.”
“Sawyer,” I gasped when he was done rambling, and I was finally able to breathe again. I slumped against him, feeling boneless, and he ran a soothing hand down my back. “It’s—your turn. You, now.”
“Do you want more?” he asked in my ear, running his lips along the shell of it.
“I—” My breath caught, and I tried again. “Yes, I want more. I want—you. For you to…”
Sully seemed to understand what I was saying, holding me close and flipping me onto my back, stretching us across the length of the couch. He was still inside me, and I moaned when he thrust deeper, settling on top of me.
“You want me to take over, baby?” he asked, fucking into me—lazily, at first, and then harder. Like he’d been unable to curb the urge to thrust. I wrapped my legs around his hips, bringing him deeper, and Sully grunted, dropping his head into the crook of my neck and muttering things I could only half understand, things that all revolved around me and how perfect I was.
And as I lost myself in Sully and the way he loved me, for the first time in so long, I believed it.
CHAPTER FORTY-NINE
sully
IWOKE EARLY THE next morning and couldn’t get back to sleep. And despite how much I loved being wrapped in the same blankets as Ellie, I worried I’d wake her with my fidgeting. I found it so hard not to touch her when she was so close, not to stroke her hair and plant kisses on her shoulder. She was my greatest temptation, and I wanted her to rest.
A while ago, we moved theMillennium Falconto the kitchen table because, to be honest, we used it a lot less than the coffee table in the living room. Our focus on completing it had dwindled in the past several weeks, so a few remaining pieces still lingered on the tabletop, and I picked them up, assessing what needed to be done yet. Or, attempting to while images of last night flashed through my head.
That, and the reminder that Ellie had agreed tomarryme, something I had yet to fully conceptualize. Especially considering that she kept talking about it like it was a real thing. Like we might actually need to tell people and plan things. I asked if she wanted to share it officially when we saw the entire family at Christmas, and she pushed back and questioned what the plans were for Thanksgiving, which was really only about a few weeks away.
But it was enough time to take her out and propose to her properly, the way I’d planned to from the beginning. It wasn’t anything extravagant; I’d been twenty and broke when I bought her ring, using all the money in my name when I stumbled upon a small solitaire diamond set in a vintage band with golden twists that reminded me of something from a fantasy, from a place a little more magical than Earth, somewhere I imagined Eleanor was born.
I wanted to propose in a hidden spot that reminded me of make-believe, somewhere in Rosewood I’d never actually taken her before—a tree-covered trail that ran between the lake we swam in as kids and the field we snuck into to gaze at stars.
After forcing my thoughts to the present, I managed to figure out where one of the LEGO pieces went and was just snapping it into place when I heard the creak of the staircase.
“You’re up early,” came a soft voice as it rounded the corner, and I couldn’t help but smile at the sight of Ellie wrapped in my old robe, with its brown stripes and fraying stitching where my name had been embroidered by my mom.
“Yeah, couldn’t get back to sleep.” I opened my arms for her, and she walked right into them, perching herself on my knee. “I was trying not to wake you, though.”
“You didn’t, but I must have sensed you were gone.” She smiled down at me, and I wondered if I’d ever get over how good her existence felt. That I got to experience it. “Did you make coffee yet?”
“Not yet,” I said. “But why don’t you have a seat, and I’ll get it brewing.”
Ellie nodded, yawning sleepily as we switched places. She slid onto the chair and immediately began tinkering with the LEGO pieces, making me grin to myself as I crossed the kitchen.
