Gideon

Dean hadOwen’s and Livy’s bags on one arm while Matteo walked the twins to the car. The three of them were thick as thieves—more so since the fire, and they loved having sleepovers as often as possible. While they all had their own friends, they were each other’s best.

“Thanks for taking them.” I clapped my brother on the back.

“Not a problem—you know that. You get them next time. I’ve been thinking of taking Rita away for a weekend.”

I smiled. “That’ll be great. The charity gala is at seven tomorrow night, so come any time before that. Hopefully all the chaos will be done.”

“We’re looking forward to it. I heard you’re having a karaoke competition?”

I chuckled. “You have to pay to be in the competition; just another way Rita’s nonprofit gets more money.”

Dean’s eyes softened. “She really appreciates you doing an event every year.”

“It’s my pleasure.”

I watched as he moved to the car, and I gave one more wave to the kids as he drove off. I shut the door and realized how quiet the house was. After Olivia’s lesson, Penn had helped Owen get his stuff together and then dropped it at the door and said he’d be upstairs.

As I ascended, I listened for any sounds, but it was like a ghost town. Slowly, I made my way down the hallway toward the master bedroom. There was a sliver of light coming from the slightly ajar door. I peeked in but couldn’t see much from this vantage point, so I opened it and froze.

“Took you long enough.” Penn grinned. He was in the middle of the bed, beautifully naked. Candles were strategically placed around the room, and he was shaking a can of whipped cream.

“My apologies. Had I’d known dessert was waiting for me, I’d have pushed Dean out sooner.”

He chuckled. “No, Gideon, I’m not dessert.” He angled the can my way. “You are.” He patted the bed that I only just realized had a towel on it. “Hop on.”

“Can I shower first?”

He shook his head. “You can shower when I’m done with you…you’ll need it.”

While I preferred to wash, I’d showered this morning and I wasn’t gross. I wasn’t about to ruin Penn’s plans, so I quickly removed my clothes and tossed them onto the ottoman.

Penn’s gaze traveled the length of my body, and his dick was hard and weeping by the time I crawled onto the towel.

“How do you want me, chef?”

He bit his lip, eyes twinkling with mirth. “On your back, legs spread.”

I did as ordered, never looking away from the gorgeous man who, judging by his expression, was going to devour me.

“Not that I mind, but what’s this all about?”

He jiggled the can but stopped before he sprayed any of it on my skin. “Um, the kids are gone, the house is empty, it’s Friday, the weather is hot, I’m human…take your pick as to why I want to eat you up, Gid.”

While it was true—we always wanted each other; two years hadn’t diminished that feeling, and I was sure a hundred more wouldn’t either—there was something Penn was scheming…and I was here for it.

“Okay, have your wicked way with me, then.”

The whipped cream was chilly, not too cold. I smirked as he concentrated on getting as much as he could on all the spots where I knew he wanted his tongue to go.

“There.” He sat up a bit and assessed his work.

“Am I to your liking?”

His green eyes met mine and darkened. “Always.”

How this man enraptured me, I’d never truly know. If I believed in magic, I’d say he was a witch but no, it had to be our monsters recognizing something in each other. I’d given up trying to figure out how it was this man could bring me to my knees when no one else had ever been able to. Even Ella. I’d have died for her and had thought our love was the strongest, most powerful in the world. Until Penn. While my heart ached sometimes that I didn’t maybe love her as much, I realized that wasn’t true. I had loved her, more than anything, while we’d been together.
