I nodded and stood, and we showered separately, and then we lay in the bed in the other room because the sheets in the primary suite were sticky and wet.

When I woke up this morning, I was alone in bed. I rolled over groggily and reached out for A, and that’s when I realized that he wasn’t there. I pulled myself up and pushed my hair away from my face before I walked through the suite and saw no sign of him. His clothes were off the floor, and his watch was missing from the nightstand.

Now someone else would be in their feelings about it, but the first thing I did was laugh. Because I was notorious for leaving like a thief in the night, and someone had finally gotten my ass. Iwent over to my phone and then opened it. The first thing that I saw was a message from him.

Security Big A: I’ll be downstairs when you’re ready to check out, Boss Lady.

I chuckled because we had definitely gone back to formalities. I shook my head because the whole night I thought I was getting some dick. A was over there coming to the realization that the woman he thought I was, is actually a hoe. Life comes at you fast, man.

I skipped the morning shower and threw on a dress from inside my bag. I was ready to rid myself of the night, and I’d soak when I got home.

I did one final sweep of the room before I left and headed downstairs so that he could drop me off. Then I sent him a text message to let him know that I was coming.

When I made it, I opened the door on my own and put my bag in the seat beside me instead of waiting for him to get out.

I didn’t address him, and he didn’t make an effort to address me either.

I still caught eyes with him in the rearview mirror but turned away. I cared about him, true. But I wasn’t in the business of pacifying anyone. There was nothing that I could say that could ease how he felt anyway. What happened, happened. And I had a ball.

The drop-off at my home was just as silent. I opened the door, grabbed my bag, and walked into my home without a word from him.

I won’t say he’s ruined the experience for me, because nothing could have. What’s done is done. I had a magnificent night, and I would do it again. I wasn’t affected by his anger. What is new to him is a normal day for me. He’d come around eventually when he missed me. But if not, my schedule is suddenly clear.

Let the good times roll.

The Heaux

January 20, 2022

Today was a hell of a day.

It was the first day that A and I talked. If you can call me having to blatantly ask him if I had to fire him, talking.

The conversation went exactly like this:

“A, this is the reason why I didn’t want to get involved with anyone on my team. Because now if I fire you, it’ll be retaliation. I don’t like this weird space that we’re in at all. It was one thing when we didn’t have conversations, but we don’t talk at all. Not even greetings, how the hell am I supposed to trust you with mylife and safety if I feel like you’re upset with me?” I asked after day ten of us playing the silent game.

“The same way you always do.” He kept it short. I shrugged. I didn’t want to go back and forth. If he insisted on this attitude, then it would be fine with me.

When he pulled up to the office, he just sat there, the same as he had done every day. Normally, he’d open the door and let me out and carry my coffee and my extra bags into the office. But since that night at the hotel, he hadn’t done it.

I haven’t seen or spoken to Solo since that night. The very next morning, he got a call that his brother had been murdered in Louisiana, and he’s been there since. I sent my condolences, and he made it very clear that he wanted to see me when he got back. But that wasn’t going to be a thing. I already had one person giving me hell; I learned my lesson about mixing business and pleasure.

I opened the office door and was greeted by my receptionist. She was the only one here who always seemed to be having a good day. I grabbed the stack of folders that she had extended to me, put them underneath my arm, and tried to balance everything as I went to my office.

As soon as I opened the door, the coffee dropped from my hand and went all over the floor. I jumped back, and it pissed me off even more that A was being petty.

I went to my desk and called the janitor. He was over in less than three minutes, cleaning the spill. I tried to shake off my agitation, I responded to emails, set up meetings, and even caught up on some of my certifications. But my mood had been ruined just that quickly.

Then my phone vibrated.

His & Hers: We miss you

There was a video attachment of Buck’s POV of him fucking Paige from the back. I turned my phone down in a hurry as her moans blared over the speakers.

I watched the video in its entirety. Right up until the moment that he came into her mouth. Then, I responded to them.

Me: Buck, are you sharing? I miss y’all too.
