“The only thing you need to do is sit here with your father and relax. Your brother and I will handle the gym, come on Cozart,” Zumo said as my brother stood to his feet.
“He’s right sis, you carrying my little niece or nephew so you are going to have to let me show you that I can handle a little more responsibility. I know what Brick and Co means to you, to daddy, and to our family. I’m going to guard it with my life, and every major decision will go through you,” my brother assured me. I looked over at my father, and he nodded his head once.
“I will let you take over, but don’t forget who the boss is.” I told Cozart as I sat next to my father and leaned back in thehospital chair. My lower back was still hurting from the accident, and some rest didn’t sound half bad.
“How could I forget? You remind me every five minutes.” Cozart retorted as he hit hands with my father and walked out of the door.
“I didn’t properly introduce you two but daddy this is Zumo and Zumo this is my father Mr. Bernard Walker.”
“Pleased to meet you son,” my father shook his hand.
“Nice to meet you as well sir,” Zumo retorted.
“My little girl giving you trouble?” he questioned as he smirked like he already knew the answer to his question.
“She is, but I love her and she’s worth it,” he said as he turned and walked out of the door behind my brother before I could say anything.
“Did he just say what I think he just said?” I asked my daddy.
My daddy smiled and nodded his head yes and I jumped up from my seat and ran to the hospital door.
“I LOVE YOU TOO!” I screamed so loudly the hospital staff all looked at me like I had lost my mind. Zumo was now standing in the elevator, next to my brother, and he was smiling so hard his face looked like it was about to break. My brother looked annoyed.
“I LOVE YOU ZUMO!” I shouted again as the elevator doors closed.
If you would have told me six months ago that the annoying juice man next door would make me fall in love with him and give me a baby, I would have told you that you were insane. Life had a way of changing so suddenly that nothing in my life looked exactly the same way it did six months ago.
I walked back inside of my father’s room, and he was smiling at me.
“I don’t know for sure, but I have a feeling you love Zumo,” he taunted me causing me to laugh and get into his tiny bed beside him. I rested my head on his shoulder, and he kissed me on forehead.
I couldn’t fix everything all the time for everyone, but I was surrounded by people who loved me.
With them next to me I could face anything.
