He released an annoyed breath. "I'm not toblame for the outlaws attacking and disrupting our meal of grouseand rabbit. Either walk to my horse or I'll carry you."

Ignoring him, she continued to pick and eatstrawberries. She liked to think of him as a beast but, in truth, she did not fear him. He was mostly bluster. She sucked thestrawberry juice off her finger and glanced up into his eyes.

His glare darkened and a muscle jumped in hisjaw.

When she went back to picking berries, hestepped in behind her, clasped her arms, and pulled her upward. Thenext thing she knew, he turned her to face him, bent and tossed herover his shoulder like a sack of oats.

Her head upside down, she screamed. "You madbrute!" She pounded her fists against his back.

Walking with her, he slapped her derrierehard. Twice.

"Ouch!Bâtard!Connard!"

He laughed and swung up into the saddle, thenlowered her to his lap. The man was too strong by far.

Glaring around at him, she was tempted topunch him in his sore nose, but at the same time, excitement rushedthrough her. Why? He was as annoying as the devil, and… most likelyjust as wicked in the bedchamber. When the memory of what he'dlooked like naked invaded her mind, heat consumed her entire body. She knew his muscles looked as if they'd been sculpted by a masterand were just as hard as marble. After all, she'd felt most of themwhile sitting before him on the horse.

Was she mad dwelling on such a thing?Oui!She had to be.

Staring at her lips, he narrowed his eyes."By the looks of your mouth, you had plenty of strawberries. Nomore complaints."

"I have been abducted by a knave! I have muchto complain about."

By the saints, Dugald wished he could lickthat red strawberry juice off her lips. Not because he was hungryfor food either. He found he was hungry for a French tart.

But she was no tart. She was Lindsay's wife.To seduce her would be asking for war. Dugald's yearning for herhad only gone from bad to worse as the day wore on, deterioratinghis mood. Especially with her sitting on his lap! There was only somuch temptation a man could stand before he lost his mind.

She wiped her red-stained hands over her lipsbut this only served to make matters worse, for the juice smearedonto her cheek. She looked like a wee precocious lass who'd beencrawling about the fields, grazing on wild berries. Unable to helphimself, he laughed.

"Stop laughing at me!"

Her demanding words spoken in that silkyFrench accent only made him laugh harder. Finally, he managed toask, "Why?"

"'Tis rude."

"'Do you not know knaves are rude?"

She muttered French words he didn'tunderstand. Although he'd studied French a bit, he had not donewell.

Damnation, she smelled like strawberries andbeguiling woman. He had grown hard again the moment he'd picked herup, tossed her over his shoulder and smacked her round arse. Shehad lovely curves he was enjoying pressed against him.

She wriggled against him as if trying to getcomfortable. Hell, couldn't she feel his erection? He wanted topress it more firmly against her. But he couldn't.

She's married. She's married. She'smarried, he recited silently to keep his mind off what hewanted to do to her.

But it wasn't working!

Lust besieged him, sending a barrage ofwicked memories and images through his head… all of her pale skinbared to him… her generous breasts. Her sweet body sprawled uponhim in his bed.

She glared around at him, her blue eyesdarkened. Was that desire written on her face? He muttered a curseunder his breath. He knew she'd intentionally peeped at him frominside the tent as he'd been changing clothes. The wee minx. Muchas he didn't want a married woman to be attracted to him, part ofhim was exceedingly fired-up, knowing she'd seen him naked.

Her lips were still stained red and tempting.Yearning to taste her, he gritted his teeth.

Blushing, she faced forward again.

"Hellfire," he growled. His erection was notgoing away. How could it with her sweet arse pressing against itwith every movement of the horse?
