Why are all the signs pointing me back to where this all started?

Maybe it’s true what they say—home is wherever your heart belongs.

And my heart has never left Dandy.

And now, it’s beating alongside Kit’s.

“Does anyone really know what the fuck they’re doing? We can only strive to be our best selves. That’s got to count for something, right?”

Kit nods, but his sorrow is as deep as mine.

“Whenever I’m with you, I feel like the best version of myself. And I haven’t felt that in a very long time,” he confesses in barely a whisper.

I match his tone.“I feel the same way.”

And in the silence, we’re lost, holding one another’s hands.

My resolve is slipping, and sooner or later, Kit Rivers will be the demise of Oliviaand pave the way for Hallie Holiday to emerge, reborn.

“Oh, Olivia, this is incredible,” says Sister Francine, peering down at the prayer booklets I’ve put together for All Saints’ Day Mass.

The sisters usually put off that tedious chore until the last minute.

I was up early.

Not because I couldn’t sleep.

For the first time in ages, I finally felt rested.

It could be because three cups of coffee and adrenaline fuel me, but last night with Kit changed something in me I thought was broken.

We connected in a way I didn’t think was possible, especially because of my past.

His confession about his father and Dandy changed everything. Before the revelation about Dandy, the thought of returning to Hollow Banks did cross my mind. But now, it almost feels like I don’t have a choice.

I feel like I owe it to Dandy—he saved me once. It’s now my turn to save him.

But how do I do that without revealing who I am?

You could always tell the truth,my subconscious suggests.

But it’s not that easy.

I’m afraid Kit won’t look at me the same if he learns the truth about me—but more so, I’m worried that my lies are unforgivable.

This feeling is like a drug.I am addicted to the taste, and I can’t give it up.

It’s time to come clean.

Yet I don’t know how I’m going to do it.

But I do know it must be soon.

If anything were to happen to Dandy and I could have stopped it…

I now have some small understanding of how Kit must feel about his dad.I won’t let him experience the same heartache over his brother.

“Oh, Mother Superior, Olivia has put together all the booklets for Mass.Isn’t she an angel?”says Sister Francine, snapping me from my thoughts.
