She was done playing things safe, done keeping her feelings close to her chest. She cared about Sin and she’d do whatever necessary to keep him safe. She didn’t believe in happily ever afters, but she did believe in one day at a time. And today wastheday she’d tell him the whole truth.

Her arms circled him and she whispered, “Thank you.”

He enveloped her in his and kissed her with such tenderness her knees went weak. “My pleasure. I love working with you.”

She melted from his honest, heartfelt words.

With a lethal smile, he whisked her into his arms and carried her up the stairs and into his bedroom.

When he set her on the bed, she pulled him onto her, and his eyes darkened with desire. His hot mouth surrounded her nipple, while his groans turned her wet with desire. He teased her other nipple with his thumb, but when he pinched her sensitive skin, she whimpered. The combination of pleasure with that swift painful sting, had her writhing beneath him.

“I need you,” she rasped. “Inside me.”

He covered himself in a condom, positioned himself over her, and plunged inside, her filling her to capacity. “Yesssss,” she hissed, as the overwhelming euphoria rippled through her.

“You feel amazing.” She loved how his beard scratched her cheeks, but it was the control in his deep voice that drove her so wild.

Clawing and writhing beneath him, she couldn’t pull him inside her far enough. His groan sent another shock of pleasure through her. His rough, intense kisses gave way to tender, loving ones. When he said her name, her eyes fluttered open.

His steely blue gaze awaited hers. “This is not fucking,” he murmured.

“Okay.” She was flying…so high.

“This is me loving you.”

She froze. Everything went into slow motion. Their connection was palpable and undeniable. Her heart swelled, her insides tightened around him. Despite the whirling exhilaration, she restrained the emotion teetering on the brink of escape.

As if he hadn’t just slain her with those words, he started moving. Slowly and deeply, again and again, while the heavenly momentum built to a dizzying crescendo.

She was drunk on his beautiful face and the powerful way he caressed her skin or fondled her breast. Her innermost desire was to tell him the truth. But she couldn’t utter those three little words. Instead, she raised her arms over her head and laid them on the mattress. “I surrender. Take me, Sinclair, and love me hard.”

On a guttural moan, he ground against her, his thrusts increasing. He was giving her everything he had and she took it all. She was his. All his. He knew it and he was marking her, ensuring she knew it, too.

When he murmured, “You are mine,” they both let go.

A blinding, deafening orgasm rocked her, the waves of ecstasy drowning her in absolute glory. His gritty moans filled her ears as he released himself into her. They were one, whole and complete, joined by something that tore them apart and exposed their souls, then bound them back together, forever.

The loneliness that followed her like a dark cloud floated away, replaced by a connection she’d never imagined or known. Shaking from the overwhelming euphoria, she clung to him.

His gaze had never left hers. When he stilled, he murmured, “And I am yours.”

Those words unleashed a torrent of emotions, and tears tumbled down her cheeks. Embarrassed, she turned away. “I like you…so, so much.”

After a quick reposition, he turned her face toward his. His breathtaking smile calmed her fears. “Be vulnerable with me. I want to see all of you.”

Shuddering in a breath, she nodded. Then, she found her voice. “Okay.” She exhaled a sigh and returned the smile. “That goes both ways.”

A storm darkened his bright eyes and he pulled away from her. Then, he excused himself to the bathroom.

During his brief absence, she wiped her eyes and got her emotions in check.

A moment later, he returned. “Fireplace on.” The bright yellow and blue flames danced around the perfectly positioned logs. He lay beside her, dropped a kiss on her shoulder, letting his lips linger on her heated skin. Then, he kissed her. “I’m not good at relationships.”

She rolled toward him. “Neither am I. This can be a casual—”

“I don’t want casual with you.” He tucked a loose tendril behind her ear and kissed her again.

“I don’t, either. I care about you so much.” Then, she broke eye contact.Stop rambling and tell him.On a deep breath, she lifted her face to his. “I love my mom but I don’t want to end up like her.”
