God, he was slaying her with his words.

She nudged him away and pulled a condom from his drawer. He rolled it on, positioned himself over her, but he didn’t press inside. His kiss was a dizzying mix of lust and love. Wrapping her fingers around his shaft, she lifted her hips so that the tip slipped inside her. He thrust the rest of the way.

“Oh, God,” she murmured while the unrelenting pleasure swept through her.

He tightened his grip, protecting her in his strong embrace as he began moving inside her, but his eyes never strayed from hers. Every thrust set off an explosion of pleasure taking her higher and higher.

“I love you,” he murmured, “so fucking much.”

“I love you, too,” she replied.

“You deserve happiness, Providence. Forgive yourself.”

With shaking fingers, she clung to him, tears welling in her eyes.

His kiss was greedy, his thrusting slow and powerful. “You feel so damn good, I can’t hold on,” he murmured.

“Let go.”

She loved the sexy sounds he made as he came inside her. But most of all, she loved that his gaze never left hers. In that moment, their connection felt like it could last a lifetime.

More Secrets, New Truths

Monday morning, they were working in his office when Stryker called. Dakota put him on speaker. “Tell me something good.”

“I was able to ID the bank of the SOB who stole Providence’s money.”

“You’re brilliant,” Providence said.

“The money was wired to an offshore bank called The Bank of the Princes, the same bank that was in Dakota’s blackmail letter.”

“Whoa,” Providence blurted.

“Their bank’s firewalls are impressive, but I’ve got a few more tricks I can use to find the account owner.”

When the call ended, Providence pushed out of the chair and paced. “Is it possible that we’re both being targeted by the same person?”

“Why would he go after you?”

“I know you, for starters.”

Dakota’s phone rang. It was Warren Hott. “Hey, Warren, any news?”

“I’ve got a copy of the medical examiner’s report. Is Providence with you?”

“I’m right here,” she replied.

“The rope used to bind Mr. Hastings is the same kind used at The Dungeon, but it doesn’t mean they got it from there. The report confirms what Beeker told us. Bowline knots were used on Mr. Hastings.”

“The evidence is building against us,” Dakota said.

“Maybe the rope was stolen from the club,” Providence said.

“Mr. Hastings’s blood alcohol level was 0.15%, but that’s not what killed him,” Warren continued. “He had so much liquid nicotine in his blood, he was already dead before he hit the water.”

“Liquid nicotine?” Providence Googled it. “Could he have been partying with the people he left with? He died, they freaked, and they dropped him in the river?”
