“Sure have.” Providence turned to Evangeline. “Our conversation was very…um…enlightening.” The two women exchanged smiles.

“We should have lunch,” Evangeline said to Providence. “Give me your number and we’ll figure something out.”

After Providence rattled it off, Dakota said, “The press will hound you.”

“Good point,” Evangeline said. “We’ll have you guys over for dinner.”

Providence flicked her gaze to Dakota. The energy that passed between them was charged with passion and he ran his hand down her back. He didn’t want to touch her, heneededto. And the spike of electricity that passed between them ignited his pent-up passion.

“We should get to work,” Providence said. “Good meeting you both.”

Dakota thanked his brother and sister-in-law before he and Providence entered the waiting elevator. The instant the doors closed, he snaked his arm around her waist, pulled her close, and kissed her. No permission asked. None granted. He couldn’t hold back and he sure as hell wasn’t going to behave. Not when she was standing inches away and looking so damn hot.

He didn’t deepen the kiss, just let his lips linger longer than they should have.

“Dakota,” she murmured as the doors slid open at the lobby.

Rather than exit, he tapped the button to Sin’s floor. The doors slid closed, and he pulled her flush against him and kissed the hell out of her. Her throaty groans turned him hard. They were full-on making out like two libido-fueled teenagers when the doors split apart.

Providence nudged him away.

“You didn’t get very far,” Sin said with an amused grin.

When the doors closed again, Providence said, “We havegotto stop.”

“I’m done fighting this.”

“It’s unprofessional.”

“Fuck that. I think about you all the damn time. I want to kiss you and bury myself inside you. I want to touch you, to learn everything there is to know about you. It’s consuming the hell out of me.”

The doors opened but he didn’t move. She stepped off, turned toward him. “We can’t have this conversation now.”

He didn’t like that she was pushing him away. “I’m putting myself out there, Providence.”

Several people were trying to step into the elevator, but they couldn’t get around Dakota, so she took him by the arm and led him out of the building. “Let’s talk at your house.”

Thirty minutes later, he pulled into his garage while Providence parked on the street out front. The house was quiet.

“When is Sammy at daycare?” she asked as they made their way into his office.

“Mondays and Thursdays.” He pushed the button on the bookcase and the wall slid open, revealing his safe. After punching in the code, he placed his weapons inside.

“That’s a great hiding place.” She pulled the Glock from the back of her waistband and stored it in there.

“Where’s your second piece?”

“At home. The ankle strap broke and I need to get another one.” Then, she surveyed his office. “Someone made some changes.”

He’d added a second desk and set it up so they were facing each other. “I had Sammy hauling furniture in between tea parties and LEGO.”

She laughed as she set down her computer bag. “You did not.”

“I want you to feel at home.”

She appreciated how he’d gone out of his way for her. “Thanks for doing this.”

He held her gaze second sending electricity racing through her.
