He pulled into ALPHA’s parking lot and over to her SUV. She opened the door, turned back. “I’ll talk to you.”

“Call me if you need anything,” he said.

“Same.” She shut the door, went to her truck.

He waited until she drove away, then he followed her out.

Her head was buzzing. Taking on a new case always did that to her, but she’d never been attracted to her partner. Never bedded any of them either.

Stop it, Brit.

On the drive to Addison and Hawk’s, she thought about the case. What, if anything, did the victims have in common? How did they know the killer? What was the killer’s motivation?

She hoped Rebel would make some progress after talking to the medical examiners. She felt the pressure, not just because this was an active-threat case, but because she was new to ALPHA,andshe’d spoken up about Karen.

Her stomach started growling on the drive home. She street parked and hurried up the steps to the front door of Addison’s townhome. The scanner cleared her to enter. She bolted into the kitchen, dropped her bags on the table.

“Oh, Nicholas, you feel soooo good,” Addison said, her breath coming fast.

“Give it to me, baby.” Hawk’s throaty voice startled Brit. “Come all over my cock.”

Hawk and Addison were going at it on the family room sofa. She was straddling him, her bare back and ass on full display while she rode her husband, hard and fast.

Oh, no.

“I’m sorry,” Brit blurted.

She hurried out, flew up the stairs, and bolted into her bedroom. Behind closed doors, she started laughing.

She’d seen plenty, gotten more than an earful too. Gales of laughter exploded out of her. They needed their privacy. She needed her own place.

Maybe I can convince Dad to postpone selling his condo.

She called her Dad. No answer.

Despite her hunger, she’d have to wait until they finished.

What if they go at it for hours?

She rummaged in her small crossbody bag for a cracker, even a piece of gum. Nothing. She stripped down, slipped into her robe, and went into her bathroom. Ten minutes later, she was soaking in hot water, trying to flush the image from her head.

After her bath, she dressed in a T-shirt and comfy pants, plopped onto the bed, and opened her laptop. She’d make one more pass through the case before she went to sleep.

Knock-knock.

“Brit, can I come in?” Addison asked.

“Of course.”

Addison walked in, shut the door. They regarded each other, then burst out laughing. Addison fell onto the bed. “That must’ve been fun for you.”

Brit laughed. “I wish I could unsee it, but I’m happy you and Hawk are having intimate relations.”

That made them laugh all over again.

“Who calls it that?” Addison asked.

“My GYN,” Brit replied.
