She peered into his eyes. “But you’renot?—
“I want to take thing slowly, that’s all,” he said.
“I don’t think?—”
Liliana and her husband, Jordan, joined them.
Rebel gave Brit’s shoulders a tender squeeze before letting go.
“We’re taking off,” Liliana said. “Congratulations on an extraordinary accomplishment.”
“Thank you,” Brit replied.
“Good to finally meet the family.” Jordan eyed Rebel. “You look familiar. Have we met?”
“Don’t think so,” Rebel replied, before stroking his beard.
Sin and his wife Evangeline walked into the salon. From across the room, Rebel caught their eye, tossed them a nod. Evangeline waved.
“I like that ring you’re wearing,” Jordan said.
Rebel eyed the ring on his right hand. The one he wore every day as a reminder of what he lost.
“That’s a cool design,” Jordan said. “Where’d you get that?”
“Might’ve picked it up at a pawn shop,” Rebel lied.
“I’m into unusual jewelry,” Jordan said. “You wouldn’t want to sell that to me, would you?”
“No.” Rebel made room for Sin and Evangeline. “This is Sinclair and Evangeline Develin.”
Jordan pasted on a big smile. “Don’t you run Develin and Associates?”
“We do.” Sin hugged Brit. “Congratulations. Your paintings are beautiful. Have you met my wife?”
Brit gave Evangeline a warm hug. “Thank you for coming.”
“We bought one of your sunsets,” Evangeline said, “and a painting of Addison’s as well.”
Sin smiled. “That semi-nude is going inyourhome office, babe.”
“I feel your pain on that one, brother,” Rebel said, and both men laughed.
“Is Brit joining us next week?” Sin asked.
Sin’s givin’ her the green light for my rescue team.
Rebel’s gaze slid to Brit. “Up to Brit.”
Brit offered a polite smile. “We’ll see.”
“Congratulations, Britain,” Liliana said. “Good meeting everyone.” She and Jordan took off toward the exit.
Brit muttered something.
“Who are they?” Sin asked.
“No one important,” Brit replied.
