“He’s gaga,” Hawk added.

Another round of laughter from the guys.

“Just fill out the damn paperwork,” Cooper said.

Z is walking toward the front door,” announced the computer.

Rebel pointed at each of the guys. “Not a word.”

The doorbell rang.

“He’s not gonna walk in,” Hawk said.

“I got it.” Rebel made his way into the foyer, opened the front door. “How you doin’ Z?”

Z walked into the house. “How’s the case going?”

At least he doesn’t do the BS small talk.

“We’re makin’ progress,” Rebel replied after shutting the front door.

“Update me,” Z said as they entered the kitchen.

“No shop talk,” Rebel said to him.

“Philip, we’re chilling tonight,” Hawk warned. “What are you drinking?”

Z opened the fridge, pulled out a bottle of sparkling water, poured himself a short glass. “Joaquin, your progress reports on the Alphabet Killer case are slow in coming. I don’t want to put you and Britain on a short leash?—”

“No worries, Philip. We got this.” Rebel let the words slow-roll out.

The last thing he needed was to get into it with Z.

“I’m starvin’.” Jericho pulled out plates, set them on the island. “Let’s eat.”

Rebel needed to get on more solid footing with Z. His gut told him that Philip Skye would be in his life for a long, long time.

Britain

Loaded downwith take-out bags from Rebel’s hotel restaurant, Brit and Addison rode the elevator to the lobby of Rebel’s condo building to wait for Honor. A moment later, Jordan drove up to the front door. Both he and Honor sailed inside.

He’s not staying, is he?

“Hi,” Honor beamed. “What time should Jordan pick me up?”

“I can drive her home,” Addison said. “Where do you live?”

“Merrifield,” Jordan replied. “Where do you live?”

“Alexandria,” Addison replied.

“That’s out of your way,” he said. “Honor, just text me and I’ll pick you up.” He gave her a warm hug. “Have a fun evening.” Then, he regarded Brit and Addison. “Thanks for including her.”

He left, and Brit tapped the elevator button. “Sisters night!”

Once inside, she swiped the keycard, the elevator glided upward. When the door opened into Rebel’s condo, Honor gasped.

“That private elevator brought us right into your home,” Honor said.
