Brit left Providence’s office en route to Addison’s. There, she found her sister working away at her desk. When Brit entered the room, Addison hugged her.

“We’re sharing an office,” Addison said. “Isn’t that great?”

Brit grinned. “What are you doing here? I thought you’d be at BLACK OPS training.”

“I begged out, just this once,” Addison replied. “I wanted to be here for you.”

“Best sister ever, but you didn’t have to do that.” Brit set her bags on the desk and pulled out her laptop.

“Congrats on the case,” Addison said. “I still can’t believe Liliana killed all those people.”

“I know,” Brit replied. “The cult must’ve messed her up pretty good.”

The morning flew by. It wasn’t until Addison pulled a salad and a sandwich from her lunch container that Brit realized her stomach was growling.

They worked through lunch, but at three in the afternoon, Addison suggested they leave.

“I really don’t want to go,” Brit said.

“Why not?” Addison asked. “I’m curious to see how they live, what the cult leader is like. Liliana left us for him. Seeing the ranch and meeting Craig will give me closure.”

As they packed up, Addison offered to drive.

The ride to the ranch flew by, in part because they chatted about everything… except Brit’s baby news. She wanted to tell her sister, but her OB/GYN appointment wasn’t until next week. No point in saying anything if the at-home test had been a false positive.

Her chest grew tight.

Her fears about being a good momhadn’tgone away, but her desire to be a mom had done a full one-eighty. Knowing she and Rebel would be parents in nine short months was scary… but also exciting.

“How’re things with Rebel?” Addison asked, plucking Brit from her baby thoughts.

She cracked a smile. “He told me I’m the one.”

“I’m not surprised. At Thanksgiving, on the way home, he told us he’d met his person. He was totally wowed by you.”

“Did he tell you I tried to jump his bones that night?”

Addison laughed. “No, but he thanked Hawk like a million times.”

“Why’s that?”

“Hawk told him he’d brought him a present… and you were it.”

Brit smiled. “I love that.”

“I can see you two together. Forever. If he asks you to marry him, will you say yes?”

“Absolutely,” she replied without hesitation. “I know it’s early in our relationship?—”

Addison clasped Brit’s hand. “You don’t ever have to justify anything to me… ever, Brit.”

“I’m pregnant,” she blurted.

“I knew it!” Addison exclaimed. “When I saw your salad with sliced chicken, an orange and a yogurt, I knew. You grab fast food if you eat lunch at all.” She clasped her sister’s hand. “I’m so happy for you.”

“I can’t believe I just told you. I haven’t even been to the doctor. I just took a home test.”

“Does Rebel know?”
