“My heart still breaks for her,” Brit said.

Hawk flicked his gaze down the hallway. “What’s that sound? Are they singing?”

“The members are mourning their leader,” Addison explained. “Jordan killed him.”

“I’m calling the cops,” Hawk said. “Which agency are you working this from?”

“FBI,” Rebel replied.

Hawk stepped away, called 9-1-1.

“We should talk to the cult members,” Addison said.

“Let’s wait for the police,” Brit advised. “There’s gotta be two-hundred people in that room. We have no idea how they’ll react to all of this. I don’t want them turning on us.”

“Good point,” Addison said.

As Rebel escorted both women away from the bodies, he said, “Jordan Krause is Harvey Whitaker. Candyman.”

“You were right about him,” she said.

“Liliana isn’t the Alphabet Killer,” Rebel said. “It was Honor, wasn’t it?”

“With Jordan,” Brit replied. “They did it together.”

“Police are on their way,” Hawk said.

When the cops arrived, Brit gave her statement before excusing herself. She walked over to the stretcher where the paramedics had placed Honor’s body, now covered with a sheet.

Despite the destruction Honor had caused, Brit’s heart was broken. She pulled back the sheet so she could see Honor’s ashen face. After bowing her head in prayer, she covered Honor’s face and returned to the group.

“You alright?” Addison asked.

“Even though she killed those women and Rebel’s cousin, I feel sorry for her.”

Addison put a comforting arm around her. “She had a rough childhood.”

Brit hugged her sister. “Our lives would have been totally different if Liliana had taken us with her when she left.”

Addison shivered. “I’ve thought of that before. We could have ended up as broken as Honor.”

Brit flicked her gaze to Rebel who was speaking with one of the officers. As if he sensed her eyes on him, he peered over at her. An overflow of love passed between them.

“We’re gonna take off,” Hawk said to Brit. “You guys flying back with us?”

“We’ll drive the SUV back,” Brit said.

Rebel joined the group. “We’re all set.” He extended his hand to Hawk, who pulled him in for a hug.

“You’re the best, brother,” Rebel said. “I can’t thank you enough.”

“Same,” Hawk replied. “Most important rescue of our lives.”

“Maybe Addison and Hawk will be our godparents,” Brit murmured.

Addison grinned. “Absolutely.”

“Say what?” Hawk slid his gaze from Brit to Rebel. “Godparents? Are you?—?”
