After Slash left, Brit logged in and started completing the menial tasks Karen has asked her to do. Though disappointed Addison or Slash weren’t mentoring her, she needed little supervision.
She was eager to start working on cases and excited to be part of this dynamic, top-secret team. And she wanted as little office conflict as possible.
That wasn’t too much to ask… was it?

NEW BEGINNINGS
Joaquin
Rebel entered the J. Edgar Hoover building, made his way upstairs. The department was buzzing with Special Agents chatting in clusters.
“Hey, Rebel,” said his close friend, Carrera. “Been on assignment?”
“Yeah. What’s goin’ on?”
“The Alphabet Killer took out his fourth victim.”
“Jesus,” Rebel said. “M.O.?”
“All young women,” Carrera replied. “Single gunshot wound to the head. Unsub writes a letter in red lipstick on their forehead.”
“Who’s workin’ the case?”
“It’s the craziest thing.” Carrera ran a hand through his hair. “An agent had it, then it was taken from him. Talk about pissed. He was fighting mad.”
I bet ALPHA grabbed it.
“Walk with me,” Rebel said.
As the two men took off down the hall, Rebel said, “I’m resigning today.”
Carrera’s eyebrows pinched together. “What? You’re kidding, right?”
“I’m out.”
“I heard you didn’t make HRT. Is that why?”
“I’m lookin’ at buying another hotel,” he lied.
Carrera stuck out his hand. “I’m gonna miss you, man. We gotta stay in touch.”
“Absolutely.”
After saying goodbye to his long-time friend, Rebel continued on to his boss’s office.
Once there, Rebel knocked on the open door. “Got a sec?”
“I was just about to check in with you,” Calvin said. “I wondered if you’d ignored my order and had gone undercover again.”
“No, sir, I hadn’t.” Rather than sit in the guest chair, he set his Glock and badge on the desk. “I’m resigning.”
Surprise flashed on his boss’s face. “The desk gig is temporary. You’ll be back on the street soon enough.”
“I’m gettin’ out. I’m thinking about purchasing another boutique hotel.”
“I’m sorry to hear that. Despite your rogue behavior, you’re a damn good agent.”
