No dots appeared.
He opened the front door of the club and a blast of frigid, wet winter air whipped past them. The instant chill had her hugging herself.
“It’s raining,” she said.
“Where’s your coat?”
“In my car.”
“I’ll get it.”
She handed him the key fob and smirked. “You aren’t driving off with my car, are you?”
He flashed her a devilish smile. “Trust me, darlin’.”
Joaquin
Rain peltedhim as he jogged to Brit’s ALPHA SUV. He jumped behind the wheel and drove to the front door. With her coat in hand, he hurried back inside, and helped her into it. He set the security alarm and they left.
Outside, he escorted her to the passenger side of her vehicle.
“I’m driving,” she said and began pulling away.
“Get in.”
She stood there, staring up at him, the water soaking them.
“Please,” he said.
She climbed in. Once behind the wheel, he cranked the heat, turned on the wiper blades.
“Do I get any points for not stealing your vehicle?” he asked.
That made her smile. “One or two. Where’s your car?”
“Around back.” He drove around the building.
Beneath a covered structure stood his bike.
“Well, you can’t ride your motorcycle in the pouring rain,” she said.
“Sure, I can.”
“Well, not today, Joaquin.”
That’ll work.
He wasn’t ready to say goodbye.
“If you insist, darlin’.” He drove out, heading southwest.
Brit’s phone buzzed. She read the text and sighed. “I love my sister, but she’s a little overprotective.”
“Is she older?”
“Yeah, how’d you know?”
“Got one of thoseandan older brother.”
