Ohmygod, he bought an art gallery.

Joaquin

Monday morning,Rebel arrived at ALPHA’s black site ready to train. He’d planned a rigorous morning of exercises and drills designed to provide his fledgling team with what they could expect going forward.

Sin and Dakota entered the conference room, coffee mugs in hand. Per Rebel’s email, they’d come ready-to-work in combat fatigues.

Next, Hawk and Addison rolled in, followed by Prescott. Slash slid into the chair closest to the door twenty seconds before Rebel kicked-off the meeting.

“Welcome to BLACK OPS Rescue,” Rebel began. “Introductions first, then we head outside for a fitness test, weapons distribution, and target practice. I’m Joaquin Dillinger. I go by Rebel, but answer to either. I worked for the Bureau as a Special Agent for six years, then moved to undercover.”

Rebel tossed Sin a nod.

“Sinclair Develin. I run Develin and Associates, and have been doing ALPHA missions for seven years.”

“Dakota Luck. I run Goode Luck Real Estate, and have been with ALPHA for a decade, with BLACK OPS for a year.”

“Nicholas Hawk. I own Hawk Security. Mission jobs at ALPHA for four years, and helo pilot.”

“Addison Skye Hawk. CIA for five years, ALPHA for three.”

“Prescott Armstrong. I run Armstrong Enterprises. Five years with ALPHA. Mission-only jobs.”

“Amanda Maynard. I go by Slash. Worked for the Bureau for six years, got recruited to ALPHA full time a few years back.”

They spent the next two hours doing a rigorous physical fitness test that included push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, a timed 300-meter sprint, and a timed mile-and-a-half run. Next, they ran in formation for twenty minutes. In addition to participating, Rebel was tracking everyone’s results.

Everyone had their strengths and weaknesses, but there was one thing Rebel was confident about. They would have each other’s backs. They were well suited for the intensity of the trainings, and he was proud to have been selected to work with them.

Back inside for weight lifting, then weapons distribution which included a .45 pistol, a M4 compact rifle, a Remington 870 shotgun, and a HK416 assault rifle.

“Weapons stay in your locker,” Rebel explained.

“At ALPHA HQ?” Slash asked.

“Here,” Rebel replied. “Every BLACK OPS mission starts and ends here.”

Back outside for target practice.

Rebel was impressed with his fledgling team. Some were in better shape, other more skilled with a weapon. Only Hawk had helo skills.

Together, they were the perfect nucleus for this new team of operators.

He turned the facility tour over to Dakota, who’d managed the upgrades over the past year. As the tour was ending, Rebel’s phone buzzed.

“Swing by ALPHA HQ after your training,” Cooper texted.

Back in the conference room, Rebel said, “We had a good first day. What’s a goal you need to work on? I’ll start. I work missions alone. That won’t fly here. BLACK OPS Rescue is all about teaming.”

“Lifting weights isn’t enough,” Sin said. “I need cardio.”

“Target practice,” Dakota replied.

“I haven’t flown the helo in a while,” Hawk said. “I’ll schedule regular training flights, starting this week.”

“Pull-ups,” Slash said.

“Work on my speed,” Addison said.
