She ran a comforting hand down his sweaty back. “I appreciate that.”

They finished out the run hard, returned home soaked in perspiration. After a quick shower, Carrera dressed in a suit. As he was heading downstairs, he stopped in front of Slash’s bedroom.

Knock-knock.

“Babe, it’s me,” he said.

“Come in.”

He walked in to find her in a bra and panties. And his pulse kicked up speed. “Damn, you’re hot.”

She wiggled her finger at him. Two strides and she was in his arms. Their lips came together in a surging kiss that rocked him to his toes. He stroked her back, palmed her ass, the desire turning him hard as the kiss heated up.

Breaking away, she sucked down a breath. With her fiery gaze on his, she murmured, “I hope you kick ass today, Deputy Director Santini.”

He shot her a smile, stole another kiss. “That kiss’ll stay with me for hours. Tonight, you’re mine.”

She ran her hand over his semi. “I can’t wait.”

“What are you doing today?”

“Training with BLACK OPS in the morning, then I’m going to ALPHA to talk to Providence about the case. It’s time to move in for an arrest.”

“Have a great training.” He kissed her again. “See you tonight.”

He shut the door, trotted downstairs, and said goodbye to his grandmother, who was busy making breakfast.

“Aren’t you eating?” she asked.

“I’ll grab something later. I’ve got a meeting.”

“I was supposed to host my friends for lunch today.”

“Your friends are welcome here. Just don’t show them my office.”

“Of course not.” After a pause, Elsa said, “Computer, lock the office door.”

“Good morning, Elsa,” said the computer. “Office door locked.”

G-ma smiled. “That was easy.”

Slash trotted down the stairs, dressed in fatigues. “Morning, Elsa.”

“Hello, honey. Are you here today?”

“No.”

“Are you staying for breakfast?” Elsa asked.

“Of course,” Slash replied.

Carrera kissed them both goodbye. “G-ma, call me for any reason.”

“I’ll be fine,” G-ma replied.
