“No,” Carrera replied. “He hasn’t been back in years. I wasn’t surprised he couldn’t make it.”
“Where is he?”
“Last we heard, Costa Rica,” Carrera replied.
The guys started getting ready. Black suits all around, with black shirts and black ties. Once they were ready, they left the cabin, found the photographer, and posed for pics on the stern.
“We look like a bunch of gangsters,” Stryker said.
The guys laughed.
“We kinda are,” Jericho murmured. “What’s the difference between us and the monsters we go after?”
“Better looking,” Hawk replied, and the guys cracked up.
“Richer,” Prescott said.
“Those drug lords are rich as fuck,” Cooper said.
“You mean, we’re in the wrong line of business?” Rebel said. “I wish you’d told me that ten years ago. What the hell are we gonna do about that now?”
“Never too later to jump to the dark side,” Jericho joked.
The bridesmaids—also in black—joined the guys on the bow. More pictures were taken by the photographer.
“Did the bride bolt?” Carrera asked the women.
“No way,” Liv replied.
“She’s super excited,” Brit said.
“In a laid-back, totally cool way,” Addison said.
“So calm,” Emerson said.
“She looks stunning,” Danielle added.
Carrera smiled. He could not wait to marry Slash. Couldn’t wait to call her his wife.
They decided to have a small, intimate wedding with their close circle of friends and a few family members on a Carrera cruise ship, then enjoy dinner while the vessel rolled down the river.
Sin and Evangeline, Dakota and Providence said hello before taking their seats.
Jazz walked in, Jilly too. Both sat down. Next, his cousins Gabriel and Teddy. Though Teddy hadn’t apologized to Slash, she still wanted to include him on their special day.
Carrera’s dad announced that everyone had boarded, then took his seat at the helm. The crew untied the boat ropes from the pier, and the yacht left the slip, heading toward the Potomac River.
As they motored slowly down the river, Carrera couldn’t wait to see his bride. Couldn’t wait to hold her hands, gaze into her crystal-clear eyes and exchange their vows.
This day was a long time in coming… yet it felt like yesterday when he first met the quiet girl who’d moved in with his grandmother. Yesterday, but also a lifetime ago.
So much had changed… mostly him.
He’d loved her, then he’d hated her. Now, she was his entire world and he couldn’t live without her. Fortunately, he didn’t have to, because she felt the same about him.
Slash
Slash stood gazingout the window of the bridal cabin while Elsa and Luciano relaxed on the sofa. They were enjoying a glass of champagne, but she wanted to abstain until dinner.
