“Because I’m not what you deserve. If I have to leave town and you stay behind, all of this might be something you wished you hadn’t done. And that thought kills me.”

I didn’t want to think about the end, mostly because it felt like we were just at the beginning. Obviously, Theo didn’t share the same sentiment.

My hands slid down his chest, my eyes following them. As much as I wanted to, I didn’t focus on his tattoos or how incredible he looked. I thought about what he said.

“I can’t predict the future,” I replied after a moment, gaze moving back to him. “And I think trying to is how all of my fears start. I’m okay with this as it is right now, and if somethinghappens in the future, I know I’ll handle it. Just like I’ve handled everything else.”

“And if you hate me?”

“I won’t. I know what could happen, and I’m choosing it anyway.”

“How are you so levelheaded?”

“Well ... terrible things happen every day. I have to choose to go on.”

“I would never want to be one of the terrible things, though.”

“And that’s why I’m here with you.” I gave him a small smile before running my hand through his hair, trying to memorize how it felt.

Theo leaned down, kissing me once more. This one was firmer, and he tugged me closer. I wasn’t sure if I was reading into it too far, but something felt like it changed in this kiss.

My breathing kicked up in speed as his mouth moved against mine. I was determined not to push it, but this time, his tongue ran over my bottom lip, and I let him in immediately.

God, this was incredible. It was everything I dreamed of and more. I was torn between begging to go further or staying right here with him.

Theo’s lips left mine again and placed soft kisses on the delicate skin of my neck. At this new contact, my skin erupted in gooseflesh and I only wanted more.

“Yes,” I moaned. “I love it when you do that.”

“Good.” His breath ghosted along my neck and my eyes slipped shut. “Wanna keep going?”

“Do you?” I asked, and I smiled when he nodded. “Thenyes. Please.”

When he kissed me, he gently tugged me backward until I fell onto the bed. He gave me time to move away if I needed before he leaned over me.

I could feel him right at my core, and electricity zipped up my body. We still had layers on, but this was right where I wanted him. Theo was hard already, and I flashed back to the last time we’d been like this.

Our kisses turned messy and it felt like the room grew hotter. My brain was a fuzzy mix betweenyesyesyesandcan I get off from this alone?

I regretted the fabric between us because I wanted more pressure on the desperate space between my legs.

I loved seeing him without control. I loved the way he moaned as he kissed me and the way his body invaded every inch of my personal space.

My legs wrapped around him, making him stay right where he was. In return, his hand on the small of my back pulled me in even tighter.

I’d written about this feeling. Back then, I could only imagine the full-body heat, but this was somehow more. Every part of me screamed for him to keep touching me. I wanted him to make me come, or to make me explode. I didn’t care which one.

“Fuck,” he said, his hand now at my hip. He squeezed, and I couldn’t help but roll my hips, getting only a fraction of the pleasure I needed.

What would it feel like without layers? What would his cock feel like as it entered me?

My fingers tightened on him. He hissed and jerked downward. I nearly saw stars and he groaned loudly.

It took me a minute to realize what had happened.

“Did you just?—”

“I don’t wanna talk about it.” His cheeks were dark again.
