Her lips twitch, and she gives a little shake of her head, but her eyes are brightened with amusement. “You’re impossible.”

“You said I couldn’t sitnextto you,” I whisper. “I’m not.”

No one at the table can even feel the tension in the hustle of everyone finding their seats. No one even realizes I’m fighting the urge to swipe away cutlery and fuck her over this table.

She’s so preoccupied she doesn’t even see it coming when Matt slides into the empty seat on the other side of her.

Of course he does.

I can feel the heat in my chest rise as I watch him settle in next to her, placing his hand on the back of her chair like she’s his plus one. I force my face to stay neutral, but I can feel my jaw tighten.

Addison practically shimmers under the dimmed chandelier lights, and every goddamn thing about her makes my chest flutter. I watch as she laughs at something Pippa says, but I don’t even hear it. All I hear is the thumping of my own pulse. I can’t stop myself from watching her and wishing I could touch her. Wishing I could peel that dress off her body. Wishing I could unravel her right here, without a care in the world who can see.

I can’t help but run my foot along the edge of her chair, just grazing her leg. She tenses as the softest breath escapes her lips. I can’t stop myself now. I find space between her legs and slowly raise my foot higher. I see the way she’s holding herself back, biting her lip as she tries, and fails, to follow whatever story Luke is telling. And then she looks back at me, locks her eyes to mine, and I swear I’m damn near combusting from the intensity of it.

I keep moving my foot up and down her leg. It’s so subtle no one would notice it, but I can see the way she tightens her grip on her glass each time I move. Such a simple thing is so dangerous with an audience here. I wish I could pull her into my lap and see how wet she is for me right now.

I could lose it right here every time I see her bite that lip. She wants me too.

Dinner seems to drag on forever. The food, the clinking of silverware, the constant stories Matt interjects with—it’s all blending into a haze. I try to focus, but I can’t stop staring at Addison.

I need to get out of here. I head out to the lobby where the air’s a little cooler. I breathe easier, but it’s not enough.

I pull out my phone and type out a reckless message. I don’t even care about being subtle. I just want her. Ineedher.

Me:Need some air. If you need some too, I’m in room 8063.

I booked a room tonight because I didn’t feel like heading back to my flat after the event. Most of the lads have done the same. It was easier than going home, and I think many of them plan to continue the party after the event is over.

I jab the button for the lift with more force than necessary, glancing at my phone as the message to her goes through. By the time the lift doors close, my head tips back against the wall, and I shut my eyes. All I can picture is her body pressed into mine, with that fucking dress pooled around her ankles. I’m hard already, just imagining her in here with me, pinned against the wall, moaning my name in that wrecked voice.

And I don’t even know if she’ll see my message or accept it. She might think it’s too suspicious, both of us slipping away from the gala. Though now that dinner is done and everyone is dancing and partying, they likely wouldn’t even notice us gone.

Once I step into the hotel room, I head right into the bathroom and splash some cold water on my face, trying to calm the nerves tightening in my chest.

Then there’s a knock at the door.

I know it’s her. It’s soft—almost tentative—and it feels like I’m already moving towards the door before it even finishes.

I pull the door open and there she is. Neither of us speaks for a second. We just stare at each other, the weight of the evening pressing down hard. The hours of staring, of not being able to touch each other, all right between us.

I step back without a word and let her in. The second the door clicks behind her, I reach for her, dragging her against me like I’ve been starved.

I tilt her chin up and kiss her, deep and slow. A kiss that’s frustration and relief all in one. She lets out this tiny whimper that absolutely shatters me, and then she presses her body to mine like she needs me just as much.

“You have no idea,” I growl against her mouth as my hands run over her hips, “what you’ve done to me tonight. All fucking night.”

“I think I have some idea,” she says breathlessly as she reaches down and grabs my hardened dick through my suit trousers.

A low groan rips from my chest, and I’m backing her against the wall. My hands roam her entire body, because now, I finally can touch her.

Addison drops to her knees in front of me, looking up with that teasing smile that nearly wrecks me right there. She tugs at my belt, working me free with a confidence that makes me groan low in my throat. She not only hears it—shethriveson it. She flashes a devastating little smirk before easing me into her mouth.

“Jesus,” I mutter, head falling back against the wall. Her tongue moves slowly, teasing me like she’s determined to ruin me. Her mouth—hot and wet and perfect—makes my whole body shudder. I actually have to grip the doorframe behind me to stay upright.

“Fucking hell, Addison,” I moan, voice hoarse.

I look down, because how could I not? And the sight of her on her knees, still in that satin gown, still wearing that necklace, doing this to me—it undoes something deep inside me.
