Her eyes go soft. “Okay.”

I kiss her slowly, thoroughly, taking my time. No urgency. No desperation like the first four. Just her and me and this moment.

When I push inside her, it’s gentle. Careful. Like I’m trying to memorize exactly how she feels.

“God.” The word comes out reverent. “Every time. Every single time you feel perfect. Look at me. Keep your eyes on me.”

She does. Those ice-blue eyes locked on mine while I move inside her.

“Do you know what I was thinking when I shot that empty netter?” I ask.

“What?”

“That I just made history. Five goals. First time in years.” I thrust a little deeper and she gasps. “But the only thing I cared about was getting back here. To you. To this. I’d give back every goal, every record, every stat if it meant keeping you.” I’m pouring everything into this now. Every feeling I have for her. “You’re it for me, JuJu. The only one that matters.”

She’s blinking back tears.

“I love you,” I say against her mouth. “So fucking much it scares me sometimes.”

“I love you too.”

I pick up the pace slightly, still gentle but with more purpose. My hand slides underneath her, holding her up against me.

“One more time,” I murmur. “Give me one more, baby.”

“I don’t think I?—”

“You can. I know you can.”

She’s climbing again. Slowly this time, not the sharp urgency of before, but something deeper.

“I’m so close.”

“I know. Me too.” I can feel it building. “Together. We’re doing this one together.”

Her hands grip my shoulders. Her legs wrap around my waist. We’re completely tangled together.

“I love you,” she breathes.

“I love you?—”

BANG BANG BANGon the wall.

“KEEP IT DOWN IN THERE!”

We both freeze. Then she bursts out laughing.

“Oh my god,” she gasps, trying to muffle it against myshoulder. “Is that?—”

“Dex. Definitely Dex.” I’m trying not to laugh too hard because I’m still inside her and still desperately close. “He has the room next door.”

“We should—” She’s giggling now, her whole body shaking with it. “We should be quiet.”

“Probably.” I start moving again, slowly. “Think you can be quiet?”

“I can try.”

She can’t. Within thirty seconds she’s making these breathy little sounds that are definitely not quiet.
