She took a blank page.

“Three categories. Stable. Pending. Urgent.”

Noah watched her write.

“Stable,” she said. “Your housing. Your personal account. Your employment status. Your access to treatment.”

She wrote each down.

“Pending. Insurance reimbursement. Workplace compensation. Several customer payments.”

I added, “Business-interruption claim.”

She wrote it.

“Urgent?”

I hesitated.

Noah looked at me.

“Supplier account,” I said. “End of week.”

“Mortgage?” he asked.

“Covered this month.”

“Next month?”

“Not yet.”

His breathing changed.

I leaned closer.
