Heat coiled through me.

“You are still healing.”

“You are tired.”

“I know.”

“You are looking at me as though you would enjoy making this more difficult.”

His mouth curved into something almost familiar.

“Would I?”

“You used to.”

“Maybe that survived.”

I leaned close enough to brush my lips against his ear.

“It did.”
