He searched my face, perhaps looking for defensiveness.

There was none to find.

“I trust you,” he said.

“But I can’t remember deciding any of it.”

“Then we start over.”

His thumb moved once against the side of my hand.

“I think we should both get tested.”

Relief loosened something in my chest.

“Could we go tomorrow?”

“We have Dr. Whitcomb at nine, and the settlement meeting at ten thirty.”

He blinked. “Settlement meeting?”

“The call from Felicity.”
