Warmth moved through me.
“Of course.”
We crossed the workshop together.
At the landing, Noah stopped with one hand on the rail.
“Tonight,” he said.
“What about tonight?”
“The full test results came back negative.”
“Yes.”
“I handled that call.”
“Yes.”
“I’m tired, but I’m not shutting down.”
“Yes.”
He touched my chest.
“I want our first time.”
My body reacted before I could think.
I ignored it.
“Not as a reward.”
“No.”
“Not to erase what happened with Diane.”
“No.”
“Not because surviving the call makes you feel you have to prove something.”
His mouth tightened.
“You are remarkably difficult to seduce.”
“I’m trying to understand you.”
He stepped closer.
His voice dropped.
“I want to go upstairs. I want to sleep. I want to eat and let my head settle.”
“Yes.”
“And tonight, I want you to make love to me.”
The clarity in his gaze stripped every argument from me.
