"Handle is a complicated word," I moan, snuggling into his thick arms. Kon wades out of the pool while carrying me, then he sets me down on a nearby sun lounger and finally strips out of all of his soaked clothes.

I roll onto my stomach and cross my hands at my head, resting my cheek on my forearm. He's so fucking beautiful.

With the sun beating down and already drying our skin, he gleams like some kind of Greek god.

It makes my mouth water, as does the thought of his stamina. For an older man, he fucks harder than anyone my own age.

"I will not ask you again," Kon says as he sits on the lounger next to me. "Do not dress like this in front of my men. You are mine. No one else's. Do you understand?"

My lips curve into an easy smile. "You're sexy when you're possessive."

His brows lift, a silent repeat of his question.

"I understand," I say finally. "You know, that's the first time I've come twice from penetration. You've got quite the talent." My eyes dart down to his soft cock hanging heavy between his legs. "And quite the weapon."

Kon's hard expression finally softens and a small, almost shy smile pulls across his lips. "I will take that as a compliment."

"It's intended that way." I gaze up at him, mapping out the lines of his face while my body twitches and aches from our fucking, and the sun dries my back. "You look tense."

"I am tense."

"Why?"

"I do not wish to bore you."

"I'm not just a pretty face, y'know." I wink at him. "What's wrong?"

Kon sighs and then shrugs as if he's just settled an internal debate with himself. "I have a traitor in my midst. One has been weeded out but there is another. Or the one who planted them."

"A traitor?" I push up onto my elbows, arching my back and muting the groan that rises. "Are they close? Or someone further afield?"

"That I do not know."

"Then let me help. I mean it when I say I'm not just a pretty face. My family is small but I picked up on a few things. I can help." I push myself up fully and sit on the lounger facing me. "Please?"

"Rose—"

"Before you say anything," I interrupt. "We're married, remember? Your problems are my problems. And I care about you, and not just because of your cock, so… I think I can help you. If you let me."

KONSTANTIN

A few days after the pool incident, Rose perches on the end of my desk with her legs crossed at the knee and a folder balanced in her hands.

She wasn't kidding when she said she wanted to help.

She's thrown herself into poring over everything I have on the last traitor we killed, as well as the destroyed cookhouses, which now total fourteen.

The sabotage is painfully obvious but the culprit remains hidden, even from me.

"So let me get this straight," Rose says as her mouth twists slightly to the side. "Six cookhouses were targeted before you had that man killed?"

"Yes." I rest back in my chair with my fingers steepled together, watching her. There's something about her that I can't quite put my finger on.

At a glance, she's warm and happy, bubbly and eager to spend time with me. But underneath all of that, something stirs.

A shadow I can't quite see no matter how long I watch her.
