Home.
He read the single word three times and did not delete it.Then he killed the engine and went inside.

The map of Blossom Springs was tacked to the wall above the kitchen table.
Hospital, gravel road east of town, County Road AA, the unmarked property where the van's headlights had gone dark ten days ago.Every piece of the machine was visible now except the endpoint — where the pipeline delivered its cargo.
Graham opened the laptop and pulled up the encrypted server.Four photos had come through at seven fifty-two.Four personnel packets, four authorizing lines, four recommending officers.Creighton.Pruitt.Prescott.Trevino.Every one of them signed by H.Montgomery, Board Chair.
He'd seen them on the drive back from the hospital. He'd seen them twice more at red lights between Second Street and the turn onto Lake Road.He looked at them now for a fourth time, the way a man looked at a wound he already knew the size of.
Nursing supervision.Facilities.Materials management.Human resources.Every department that would need to look the other way for a patient to move through a hospital and not appear on any record that mattered.Eighteen months of Maren's handwritten notebook entries had just lined up with four signatures, and the signatures all came back to one man.
He poured coffee he wasn't going to drink and waited for the phone to ring.

Caleb Rouke called at ten fifteen.
"You saw the four?"
"I saw them."
"Harper ran the packets through records an hour ago.Every authorization line traces back to Montgomery's desk.No intermediate approvers, no department heads between the hire and the signature. He's running the appointments himself."
"And every one of them is in a chokepoint department."
"Every one."
A working pause on Caleb's end.The kind that came before a piece of information he'd been turning over for an hour.
"Ronan ran the financials tonight," Caleb said."Ani Prescott has a second bank account.Credit union in Ocala, opened fourteen months ago.Average balance twelve thousand."
"Same amount as Creighton's quarterly deposits."
"Same amount.Different source account, but the deposits trace back through the same LLC chain.Coastal Emergency Transport."
"The ambulance company."
"The ambulance company whose vehicles have been pulling up to the north dock on every third Tuesday of the month for the past eighteen months.Harper's cross-referenced the dispatch logs.Sixty-three runs to the service entrance in that window.Only twenty-nine of them appear in the hospital's patient admission records."
Graham set the coffee cup down.Thirty-four patients in eighteen months. If the IV kit count held, that was four to six patients per transfer night, moved through a service corridor that didn't exist on the floor plan Maren had pulled from the facilities database.
He stood up from the table and walked to the map on the wall.
"Ronan wants the safety drill moved up," Caleb said.
"Next Monday is already tight."
"He's not saying pull it forward. He's saying build a secondary window. If Montgomery's network has figured out someone's been looking — and moving Maren off nights suggests they have — they could run the next transfer cycle off-book.Off-pattern.Friday's the next night she has off. That's when they'd feel safest."
"Can Thompson confirm?"
"He's got access to the emergency department dispatch schedule. If they've added a sealed transfer protocol to Friday's log, he'll see it.I'll run it by him in the morning."
"And if they haven't added it to the schedule? If they're running it off the books now?"
