“Where are his parents?” Logan asks.

“My uncle killed his father when Salvario was nine years old, after my aunt was kidnapped by one of the capos working under his father. Then his uncles and other men of the Camorra tortured him and his mother. She took her own life soon after.”

“Shit,” Logan breathes. “Sorry.”

She nods. “Years later, he killed all of them, and he’s the—” She looks between us, hesitating.

“Don’t worry, Elowen. Your secrets are safe with us. It’s written in the contract,” Logan assures her.

“He’s the Butcher of Naples.”

That makes sense—why she’s in this city, away from her family. She’s cleaning up after that bastard.

Logan doesn’t try to hide his shock. It stays on his face for a long moment, making Elowen uncomfortable.

“Is there anyone from his family still alive?” I ask, shifting the air.

She shakes her head. “The only family he has is Antonio, but they’re not related by blood. He’s something of a foster father to him.”

“Where is he?”

“He’s in England. They used to live in Greenland, but after Salvario went missing, Antonio moved to a small village in England where Salvario’s mother used to live, near London.”

“Wait—what’s this guy Antonio’s history with Salvario’s mother?” Logan perks up. This question has nothing to do with finding Salvario, but Logan is a bitch for juicy gossip.

“He loved her.”

“Ahh, that’s why he took him under his care.”

“What do you know about his work?” I cut in.

“He had an airline business, which is under Antonio’s name in public. Salvario always kept himself hidden from the world, so you won’t find anything under his name.”

“How did you meet him?” Logan leans in.

“He kidnapped me.”

Logan’s face changes again. I have the urge to punch the motherfucker for making her uncomfortable with his expressions.

“He wanted revenge on my uncle, so he kidnapped me by mistake. Then he sent me back to my family. We kept our relationship hidden from them, until he tried to kill my uncle and then attempted suicide.” Her face grows paler. “That same day, their mansion in Greenland was attacked, someone nearly killed Antonio and took Salvario.”

Silence falls over the room. Her gaze locks on her hands in her lap.

“My family has been trying to find him, but there’s been no success.” Her gaze holds mine. Pleading. Tired. Desperate. “Please find him.”

“We’ll find him,” I vow, only to chase the sadness from her face.

“Can you give us a photo of him?” Logan asks.

She nods, then gets up and leaves for upstairs.

Chapter 8

Hunter

“I’m ninety percent sure this man is hiding somewhere to save his ass from her family.”Logan starts in a low voice as soon as she leaves. “After attempting to murder Alexander, there’s no way they’ll let him go. And he must have manipulated her to use her, or else why would he try to kill her uncle if he really loved her? Poor girl.”

That’s possible. But he didn’t look like he was manipulating her in the photo I saw last night. Either he’s very good at masking his feelings, or he was truly in love with her.
