Logan stopped me when I reached for the guns to attack her house and kill the bastard. Because her father’s security isn’t just limited to her; it covers all of Naples. And once he finds out his daughter’s house has been attacked, his men will come after us, and I won’t be able to leave the city with her.
I entered the house through the back door after jumping over the wall from the garden. I know every inch of this house’s security, so I disabled the alarms before coming in. Logan’s job was to neutralize the guards at the main gate and make sure they were unconscious.
When I entered the room, that motherfucker was sitting onourfucking bed. I was tempted to kill him right there. But I kept the urge down, only knocked him out and threw him outside the room. She was in the shower at that time.
I sensed something was wrong and pressed her to open the door. The sound of the door breaking would have alerted her security, and since Logan hadn’t executed his plan, it was risky. But when she didn’t open it, after too long, I decided to damn the plan and break the door down. I regret not doing it sooner, and I’m afraid to my core of what would have happened if I’d waited even a little longer.
“We don’t have much time to think about it now. Get up and leave,” Logan says anxiously, rushing into the bathroom and coming out with her bathrobe.
He hands it to me. I get up, wrap her in the bathrobe, and lift her from the bed, pressing her tightly against my chest.
“Bring him back to consciousness, take a picture of him with both wrists cut using the piece of glass from the shower, then knock him out again.”
Logan raises a brow.
“She needs to know the consequences of hurting herself.” I mutter, looking down at her pale face.
Chapter 25
Elowen
My sleep shatters at the sound of drilling.
My head spins as I try to open my eyes. After a few slow blinks, I manage. There are men inside the room, drilling something into the window frame. This room isn’t mine. It’s not a room in any house I’m familiar with.
I sit up. The men see me, stop working, and leave. I look around. It’s a small bedroom with minimal furniture. Only a wooden bed with simple white bedding, a nightstand, a single sofa, and a coffee table. There are no doors to the room, the closet, or the bathroom. The dirt on the floor suggests they were removed very recently.
I move to get out of bed, but before my feet touch the floor, a man enters the room. Hunter Blackwood. My brows pinch together. I get out of bed and face him.
“What is this? Where am I?”
“This is my house. You’re in my house,” he intones, his face devoid of emotion.
He extends his hand. “Come with me.”
I grit my teeth. “I’m not going anywhere with you. Send me back home.”
“This is our new home.”
“Our?” I bite out.
“Yes. Have you forgotten you’re still my wife? Throwing the ring won’t undo that.”
I laugh at his ridiculous nonsense, throwing my hands up, a sharp pain shoots down my wrist, wrapped in white gauze.
“You lied to me,” I snap. “I wouldn’t have shaken your hand, let alone married you, if you hadn’t deceived me into believing you were Salvario.”
“If my memory serves me right, you didn’t just shake my hand, you threw yourself into my arms, believing entirely on your own that I was Salvario.”
“That was a misunderstanding.”
“And what you did at the party, what was that?”
I purse my lips. “I was drunk.”
“And the next day, you agreed to go on a date with me.”
I take a long breath to calm myself. “Because you told me you’d lost your memories, you were clearly manipulating me. Yes, I believed on my own at first that you were Salvario, but that was also because you were behaving exactly like him. I know you came with a plan and manipulated me from the start.”
