“Umm, can you keep your eyes on the road please? Before you fuckin kill us!” she yelled, reaching over, so that she could take the book out of my hands.
“Ay, I got this! When it comes to driving, I don’t need no direction. Plus, I got this shit in cruise control anyways. Back to the point that I was making. That book that you’re so tuned into has blood on the cover. A knife. It’s a figure standing in the background, and he probably got some bodies stored away at his crib somewhere. Skimming over the synopsis, I saw words on the back like missing, killer, bodies, and thigs like that. Although I didn’t get a chance to read the synopsis in its entirety, I think it’s safe to say that you reading a book about a man killing folk. According to your logic, that’s the shit that you’re consuming, right? You’re a reflection of what you consume, correct? That’swhat you just told me. Should I take my gun from above me, and drive with it in my lap, since I’m sitting next to a murderer?” I threw her goofy ass logic back on her and it was just like a woman for her to sit there looking dumbfounded, as if her own logic didn’t apply to her.
“That doesn’t apply though. Like, it’s literally not the same. The music that you’re listening to is glorifying treating women like shit. Yes, this book talks about murder, but it isn’t glorifying it. Murder isn’t being celebrated in this book. For your information, the man in this book becomes obsessed with this woman that he meets at a lounge. She gave him a chance, but there were red flags about him, so she decided to end things. He started stalking her. I haven’t gotten to the end yet, but I know that he’s going to kill her in the end. There’s a message in this story. It’s showing how sometimes men can’t handle rejection, and they go out to do crazy things like this. What’s the message with the music that you listen to, Gemini? Aside from talking about women as if we’re just objects, and calling us bitches and hoes,” she wanted to know.
Call me crazy, but I loved a woman that could talk her shit too. A woman that didn’t back down. I still didn’t see where she was coming from, but I fucked with the fact that she knew how to hold her own. That was dope.
“You can dress that shit up to sound as nice as you want it to. Your logic still applies to the book that you’re reading. All of a sudden, when I fire back at your ass, using your own logic against you, now shit changes. Now, you want to start talking about powerful messages and shit, but when a nigga play Future, it’s no powerful message, symbolism, and themes. Keep that same energy, love. You consuming yourself with murder, so you probably a murderer. I know now that I gotta watch your ass,” I finished, taking one last look at her.
She fought hard as hell to keep that smile to herself. I could see the fight in her eyes. It crept in for a little bit, but just as quickly as she smiled, is as quickly as the smile disappeared.
“Whatever. You still didn’t prove me wrong,” I let her get the last word.
She tended back to her murdering ass book, while I tended back to my trap music. After that, she didn’t say anything else to me, and I didn’t say anything else to her. I tended to the drive.
The drive was smooth sailing. Luckily, I didn’t run into any traffic, so the time that the navigation said that I would get here was the exact time that I pulled into one of the luxury car warehouses. The spot was calledCentral Florida Motor Group.I’ve been doing business with them for about four years now. They were basically a luxury vehicle distributor. For example, let’s say the Mercedes Benz dealership in Orlando needs three G- class whips. The G- class whips can be sitting at a Miami dealership. Central Florida Group will buy it off the Miami dealership, the brokers that they have will arrange the sale, and from there, they do the transfer. I step in by transporting the cars.
“You gotta use the restroom or anything? We going to be here for a little minute. I gotta handle some paperwork, they gotta inspect the cars, and I have to unload. You might as well get out, so you can stretch your legs,” I suggested, after I successfully pulled my truck in front of the business.
Amina was looking around, seeing all those luxury cars that were parked out front of the business. You could even see the luxury cars that were inside, propped in the showroom.
“You transport cars?” she asked me, as if it finally clicked to her the kind of shit that I was moving.
“What? You thought because I listen to music about moving dope, that I was moving dope too?” I asked her.
“If I thought that you were moving dope Gemini, trust me, I wouldn’t have got in the car with you,” she shot.
“Yeah okay. You would have still been sitting right there in the passenger seat. If I was moving dope, you think I would have told you? You wouldn’t have known,” I finished, removing my seatbelt, prepared to get out of the truck.
“Wait, so it’s cars in the back then?” she asked me. Again, it was clicking to her what I was out here doing.
“Its four cars in the back. I’m about to unload them in a second. You getting out, or you going to stay inside the truck?” I wanted to know.
“I do have to use the restroom. I want to see the way the cars get unloaded from the back though,” she let me know.
I fucked with that response. It showed that she had somewhat of an interest in my world. She could have chosen to sit her ass in the seat and not give a damn about what it was that I was doing. She didn’t do that though. As much as she wasn’t fuckin with me, she seemed to be fuckin with what I was out here doing for work, and I liked that.
“Aight. Stay right there, so I can help you step off. I won’t unload it until you get back from using the restroom,” was probably the nicest interaction that the two of us had so far. If Gianna was here to witness this moment, I’m sure my sister would be proud.
I opened the door and jumped down. I stretched my arms, and my legs, and walked around the front of the truck, so that I could get to Amina’s side. I pulled the door open, reaching my hand out for her to grab it. She took it, walked down the two steps, and she was now standing on the concrete, just as I was.
She stretched out her legs, and arms, like I’d done. As she was doing that, I felt movement behind me. I turned around, and I saw that Chris and Malcolm were walking out. They were brothers. They owned the company. When they walked over, making it to me, they smiled, each putting their hands out, so that I could slap it up with them. I went for Chris first, since he was closer to me, and then I went for Malcolm.
“G, what’s good? How was the ride, man?” Malcolm wanted to know.
“The ride was smooth. It’s cool if she goes inside to use the restroom?” I asked them.
“Yeah. You know it’s no problem. How you doing? I’m Chris,” Chris said to Amina, sticking his hand out for her to shake. He was looking at her with a big ass smile on his face. It’s no secret that Amina was a beautiful woman, so the reaction that Chris was giving her was warranted.
“Hi. I’m Amina,” she responded, sticking her hand out for him as well.
They shook hands, and then Malcolm came over, so that he could introduce himself to her as well. From there, I looked to Amina, pointed at the double doors of the company, letting her know that that was the way to get inside. I told her to walk in, take the hallway down, and that the women’s restroom would be the first right. She nodded her head to that and walked off.
Chris and Malcolm were typical niggas because they followed her with their eyes the entire time that she walked away. It wasn’t until we couldn’t see her anymore that they turned their heads and looked back at me.
“Since when you started letting women accompany you on the road? G, as long as we’ve been doing business, you’ve never pulled up on us with a woman. That’s your girl?” Chris wanted to know.
“Nah. That’s my sister best friend,” I responded, keeping it short.
