“Ah, Mr. Sanderson. So nice to finally meet you. And I see you brought my wife and associate with you.” He said in his thick slimy accent.
I noticed he called Sabrina an associate, I guess she wasn’t as important to him as she thought. The ex-wife rolled her eyes at his antics while Sabrina slumped towards the edge of the wall like Valdez would save her.
“Is this how you treat your guests Mr. Sanderson. But I guess I did kill one of your little friends. So, an eye for an eye I suppose. A deal then, you give me my people and I’ll give you yours.” He said waving his hand towards the men with the guns.
Their weapons lowered and they stepped back towards Valdez but still not in range for my shooters. I looked at the ex-wife trying to pose the unspoken question in my eyes and when she nodded, I shifted my gaze to the men at the bottom of the steps.
“Take them through the sally port but not before our people are inside first.” I said, speaking as low as I could.
“Send my people through the door to your left once they are inside, I will do the same with yours. The door will remain locked until everyone is inside and safe. Once they reach the opposite door, only then will we unlock them. If you or your men try anything your son will die. Are we clear?” I commanded.
“Agreed. But what about my son?” He asked.
“When we exchange our people and they are safe on either side, you and your men will leave. Then I will send your son down the mountain safe and sound, but if you do anything other than what I say. You will never see your son again.”
He didn't respond, but he did signal to his men to back further from the gate, leaving one-armed merc to lead our people to the entrance. Once they were there, he returned to his original position at his boss’s side. We watched from the top of the wall as both sets of hostages entered the steel doors and crossed the short walkway. There was a pause after they reached the doors and then with a loud clank as the locks disengaged, opening the doors. The men on our side snatched our people up and escorted them to the safehouse, while we watched the action down below.
While the wife held back, Sabrina ran as fast as her bare feet could take her.
“Edmond, I knew you would come.” She screamed, the doors locked immediately behind them.
“Stop.” Valdez yelled at Sabrina, making her halt her quick steps, stumbling and falling to her knees in front of him.
When his gaze locked on his wife, she trembled slightly but continued to walk towards him. He opened his arms, allowing her to walk into them before hugging her and whispering into her ear. He held her for a moment and gently pushed her to a merc who helped her into the backseat of the hummer. Her gaze caught mine before the door closed behind her. As soon as the door was closed, it was like he remembered that Sabrina was at his feet.
“Sabrina, Sabrina, Sabrina. What am I going to do with you?” He asked, gun still in his hand.
“Edmond, please look at me. They tried to kill me. I need a doctor.” She cried.
A minute ago, she was still on my dick and now she was crying for him to save her. This bitch was unreal.
“I couldn’t even sell you cheap to one of my brothels overseas with that hideous slash across your face. I should have let themkeep you but therein lies my problem. You are a fucking snitch, and I can’t suffer a snitch to live.”
“Please Edmond. I had to. Look at what they did to my face. They were going to kill me.” She begged.
“What the fuck do you think I’m going to do to you bitch. You gave up my son’s location. A number of accounts that you had access to have been drained. Do you think I’m going to throw you a fucking party?” He asked as he moved closer to her with his gun.
“I-I’m sor…”
Before the words were out of her mouth Valdez had put a bullet through her left eye. From the look on her face, she didn’t even see it coming.
“What a waste.” He said and then holstered his weapon and spit on her dead body.
“I guess she wasn’t as special as she thought.” Black said.
Chapter 14
Nova
The monitors beeped loud, drowning out the whispered voices of the people on the other side of the room tending to Janelle. Pops, Del and Dr. Gibson had come in about 15 minutes ago and the suite had been in utter chaos until Pops got everything under control. It took the longest for him to get the doctor to stop shaking like she was about to have a nervous breakdown. She came in with her hair all over her head and splattered blood across her cheek. But now everything was going as well as it could go. Kema and Mecca were sitting with a distraught Del at Janelle's bedside while Pops, Tyra and the doctor were assessing me.
I forced her to help Janelle first since she still hadn’t woken up. My labor was progressing normally, and I wasn’t in any immediate danger, it was only right. Unfortunately for me she refused to give me an epidural. I was only six centimeters, but Dr. Gibson feared that if we had an emergency and had to evacuate, I wouldn’t be able to be moved easily. We already had to deal with moving Janelle if something happened.
Every contraction felt like I was being ripped apart. The back pain that had been no more than a nuisance a day ago had become intense pressure and sharp cramps that radiatedfrom my lower stomach down to my thighs. No position was comfortable, I had tried lying on my side, my back, I even sat on the birthing ball. Nothing was working.
“Breathe sweetheart, it won’t be long now.” Pops said
“I’m trying to breathe but your great grandson is trying to bulldoze his way out of me.” I huffed.
