Eric got his shiver, and the more he stroked, the harder she squirmed. When he added a gentle nip on the side of her neck, she broke. Utterly. “God!” she cried.

She hadn’t come down when he moved again, pressing his knee between her legs and forcing them apart. He kept his eyes locked to hers as he slid himself home. A look close to pain crossed his face so quickly Bree thought she might have imagined it. Then he started moving, and she closed her eyes at the sensory overload.

“No. Look at me,” Eric said.

She clenched the sheets with one hand and wrapped the other around his back. As his urgency grew more intense, so did her grip. Part of her knew she was marking him. Most of her didn’t care. He shifted again and had her falling over the edge.

He faltered a moment after that, his rhythm growing frantic, then slowing. “God, Bree.” Eric eventually collapsed beside her, crushing her to his chest. “God, Bree,” he repeated.

She couldn’t form the words to agree with him, but she did. She burrowed in closer.

“I’m staying the night.” It wasn’t a request.

She ought to send him on his way. Letting him stay over was a promise she couldn’t make yet. Bree wanted to, but things were still too uncertain. Rather, she was. She had an explanation for his behaviour, but she didn’t understand it.
