She found herself feeling distracted and stumbled again, falling against him. His arms came around her to steady her. Heat enveloped her again, but she was quick to pull back. His arms tightened around her, pulling her to his chest.

“Ye should just stay in me arms,” he murmured. “’Tis the only way I can ensure ye daenae harm yerself.”

Her cheeks heated, and she lowered her eyes, but after a moment, when it didn’t seem as though she had committed some grave offense, she wrapped her arms around his waist. He breathed a deep sigh of relief, which made her look up at him.

She was surprised to see the crease in his brow. She wondered if he was displeased about something.

“What are ye thinking of?” she asked.

“Ye,” he answered. “I am really lucky to have met ye.”

Her heart soared, and she forced herself to speak past the lump in her throat.

“Indeed?”

“Aye.” He nodded. “Ye have brought me nae only answers but also so much joy I never thought possible. I love ye, Emily, more than I could express.”

Tears pooled in her eyes, and she kissed him, not caring that they were not alone. He stiffened, but then kissed her back with so much fervor that it elicited cheers and whistles. When he pulled back, his eyes were dark.

She understood.

She nodded and let him lead her out of the hall. She felt the same need, and if he hadn’t, she would have probably dragged him out herself.

Their steps quickened, and soon she found herself giggling as they all but jogged to his chambers.

When they stepped inside, their movements were hurried, hands tearing at each other’s clothes as their lips met. She barely noticed the furniture, not when she was focused on undressing him.

A moan escaped her when Adair finally pulled her against his naked body. The tufts of hair on his chest tickled her, sending fire racing along her skin and making her body thrum with need.

He backed her up so quickly that she didn’t even have time to study his chambers. Her back met the mattress, and he slowly climbed over her.

“Did I frighten ye?” he asked.

“Nay,” she answered, shaking her head.

“I am sorry for me haste,” he rasped. “I desire ye with such a hunger that I forget meself.”

She smiled and lifted a hand to cup his face.

“I understand ye,” she murmured. “I feel the same.”

His eyes widened, and she nodded.

He kissed her then, soft and slow, and she melted into him with a sigh.

The kiss was full of emotion and made her feel as though she were finally returning home. Their hands roamed, and with each caress, she felt the flames of her desire burn hotter and hotter till she was panting beneath him.

He kissed his way down her body to her sex, which pulsed with need, and she found herself unable to stifle her moans. Soon, her body convulsed, and she felt him climb over her, kissing her again.

She kissed him back with all the strength she could muster, feeling him line his member with her entrance. She felt the gentle prod of the tip and stiffened.

“I am sorry,” he murmured. “It will only hurt for a moment.”

She nodded, digging her nails into his skin as he slid deep into her. He let out a groan and braced his weight on his elbow, clearly trying not to crush her, but the strain was evident in his gritted teeth.

“Are ye alright?” he asked.

“Aye,” she breathed.
