“It’s still going to be worth it. So, can we please just be happy that this isn’t our last night together and just go inside and enjoy ourselves until it’s time for me to leave?”
He didn’t look completely convinced but he eventually nodded. “We can do that,” he murmured as he got to his feet and held out his hand to her. “Come on. One more night to steal all the blankets.”
Evie laughed and then let out a scream as Slater scooped her up in his arms. “You think that’s not going to happen when you get to Seattle?” she teased.
“Aha! So you admit that you steal them.”
“Well…maybe a little.”
He chuckled. “It’s more than a little, but I think we can work it out eventually. How big is your bed back home?”
“Um…only a queen.”
“We’re definitely going to need to order a new bed then.”
“Ooh…can we order one of these? I swear they are the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in!”
Slater playfully tossed her down on the bed before whipping off his shirt. “That can definitely be arranged.”
“Yay!”
He kicked off his shoes and shucked his jeans before joining her on the bed. “How are you at sleeping on planes?”
“Uh…I’m not sure. I don’t fly a lot, so…”
“Make sure you pick up a neck pillow at the airport,” he said as he covered her body with his and began kissing the line of her jaw.
Arching her back, she pressed up against him in all the best places. “Wh…why?”
“Because I’m going to keep you up all night, beautiful girl. You’re not getting any sleep.”
Then he was done talking and covered her lips with his. Evie wrapped herself around him and held on for the long night.
Sleep was highly overrated anyway.
Chapter Fifteen
They didn’t stay up all night.
Actually, they both fell into an exhausted sleep sometime around midnight, and now that the alarm was going off, Slater had nothing but regrets.
Reaching over, he shut the alarm off and laughed quietly when he realized he was indeed hanging on to the edge of the bed. Evie, meanwhile, was sleeping diagonally across the rest of the space with most of the blankets.
“Note to self, make sure whatever place we buy has enough room for an Alaskan king bed where we’re going to have to give the Scandinavian Sleep Method a try.”
Carefully, he rolled over and smiled. Her mouth was open, there were creases on her face from the way she must have been sleeping, one arm was thrown over her head, and her hair was in wild disarray.
As crazy as it was, she was still the sexiest woman he’d ever seen.
And he had to drive her to the airport in a few hours.
Milo had originally said he’d do it, but Slater talked him out of it. It felt like something he ought to do. It would have been wrong to stay at the resort and watch her drive away. This way, they could have their goodbye privately without all of their friends standing around watching.
Speaking of their friends…
Slater sat up, propping his pillows behind him before reaching for his phone. They’d had their “goodbye” dinner last night, but he wanted to make sure no one planned anything for breakfast.
Slater: Morning. Just wanted to see if anyone had breakfast plans I need to know about.
