He shook her hand and held it, closing his other hand over hers. “You’ll have to get stronger first. Another week of rest.”

“I’m sure I can start working without fainting.” She wasn’t sure, but inactivity was something she wasn’t used to anymore.

“No. You rest.” He sounded bossy. He even looked bossy.

“May I take a walk in the park?” she teased.

He frowned. “Maybe, if I think it’s all right.”

Goodness, he hadn’t caught her sarcasm.

“You’re too strict.”

“Concerned.” He released her hand.

“Just a walk in the park. A bit of fresh air. As much fresh air as one could get in London. It’ll refresh my mind.”

He smiled, and his smile was contagious. “The park it is.”

“Great.”

His smile disappeared. “But I’ll come with you.”
