My mom walks in with tears in her eyes.
“My baby had her own babies,” she says with a cry.
Everyone takes turns holding the babies as I look at them with a tired smile.
My sister smiles when holding the babies but, the second she hands the babies to someone else, she loses her smile.
Something is wrong, and I know it has to do with Tank.
They have been fighting a lot lately.
I had known it was going to happen because my sister didn’t understand how this club life worked, and Tank was always with her because he was afraid that she would take off again if he wasn’t.
He also knew that there was a threat still out there and wanted her protected.
It has been months, but the brothers don’t want to let up on watching anyone. I have to agree. I feel that as soon as we let our guards down, something is going to happen. It’s what these people are waiting for.
I whisper to Maverick that I wanted a couple minutes alone with my sister when everyone starts leaving.
The babies are asleep, so they put them back in their bassinets.
I know they will be right outside the door though.
“What’s going on?” Serena asks.
“I want to know the same thing with you. Don’t lie to me. I’m too tired to put up with any bullshit,” I tell her.
“You just had two babies; you don’t need my drama right now,” she says, waving me off.
“I’m your sister; I don’t care what’s going on in my life, I want your drama. If there is a way I can help, I will find a way to do it,” I snap.
“I’m just feeling a bit suffocated right now. Tank is constantly with me. I would just love the chance to miss him for a change. I can’t go from being a single woman to being immediately attached to someone at the hip. That’s too fast for my brain and heart to process,” she says with a sigh.
“There is a lot going on right now and all of the Old Ladies are being constantly watched. Once they find the threat and take care of it, everything will let up,” I tell her.
“I hope you are right. I do care about him a lot, but I just worry that by spending so much time together, he will get sick of me and I’ll be too attached,” she tells me.
“You need to tell him your worries and how you are feeling. Nothing good can come from keeping it in. Trust me, I know,” I warn her.
“I guess if anyone would know that, it would be you,” she says with a small smile.
“Exactly. Go find him and talk to him,” I say.
“He’s back at the club already. A prospect is supposed to follow me there,” she says.
“Good. Call me later and tell me how it goes,” I say with a yawn.
“I will,” she says before kissing me on the cheek. She looks over at both babies before leaving the room. Immediately, Levi and Maverick come back into the room.
I tell them that I will explain later as I fight sleep, and they both tell me to get some rest and that they will wake me once the babies are hungry.
I fall asleep with a smile on my face. I had finally found my home.
Serena
I know my sister is right. I think about the words I’m going to say when I see Tank.
I feel the prospect follow me to my SUV. He waits for me to get in before getting on his bike. He waits for me to pull out so that he can follow me.
