No! Never in a bad way, obviously.
Obviously, right?
Jude leaned down, his eyes roaming all over her face for the slightest hint in her expression that she wasn’t just shy but flat out uncomfortable. She giggled again; her eyes wrinkled from her wide smile and kissed his cheek.
Oh my gosh, I’m never going to wash my face again.
She looked towards Zayden. “You guys have a jet?”
“We have a timeshare for one, technically,” Zayden explained, hauling the last piece of luggage into the car. “I didn’t think it was a financially smart idea to purchase our own jet, so we compromised.”
“We all agreed to put a majority of our money into different nonprofits each month!” Jude shouted. It was his idea, but he wasn’t about to take all the credit. “Last month, we donated to a special needs program for children and another for adults. We also try to do volunteer work wherever we’re currently donating,so we’ve got to hang out with a few special needs' kiddos in a special education program. Talk about future rock stars! And professional feeling hurters.”
“Hurters isn’t a word,” Felix scoffed.
“Well, I said it, so now it obviously is. Hey!”
Zayden opened the car door and pulled Sonnet out from Jude’s arms, helping her into the backseat where Felix sneakily stole the middle spot right next to her. The bastards!
Don’t curse!
It’s not like she can hear my thoughts!
“Hey! What was that for?”
“If you’re going to sit with her on the four and a half hours long flight, the least I can do is give her a break from your yapping. Now, get in before we’re late.”
“You suck,” Jude growled, sliding next to Felix and pouting. “Just admit it. You prefer Felix over me!”
Zayden didn’t say anything, but Jude saw his smirk in the rearview mirror as he pulled out of their driveway and headed towards the airport.
Jude crossed his arms over his chest and glared out the window. Felix and he may have been on the same team to unite the pack to make Sonnet their forever omega, but at this moment, he was just a bastard with fancy words, a handsome outfit, perfectly white teeth—
“Dammit. I forgot my toothbrush.”
“Jude. For fuck’s sake, I’m not turning around, so just don’t eat shit until we can buy you a new one.”
Chapter 17
Sonnet wished she were the kind of girl who wouldn’t be impressed by a private jet with cushions that made you sink, arm rests that gave you the softest hugs, and not only a mini bar, but a coffee stand that made the best and creamiest latte of her entire life. But she was.
Summer probably would have acted indifferently or complained about the fuel harming the environment. But Sonnet wasn’t plagued by those problems. She was snuggled happily into her seat; legs crossed in her lap, and looking out her window over the cities they were flying over.
Chicago to California was only about a 5-hour flight, but it felt longer. When was the last time she’d been on a plane or gone on a trip?
She was more of a homebody. Definitely not as adventurous as Summer or Scarlett. When she was younger, their family went on a few trips a year including Greece for Mom’s birthday, the Amazon for Summer’s graduation present, and India for Dad who was obsessed with their architecture.
For Sonnet’s graduation trip, she asked to go to Disney World and the Florida coast, and that was as far as she wanted to go.
If she could live at the beach, she’d never go anywhere at all.
Jude’s loud snoring tore her eyes away from her window, and she looked at the cushion across from her where Jude was happily spreading out and passed out. He was a giant and the tallest out of all four of her alphas and looked like an oversized puppy trying to sleep on a stool meant for a toddler.
“He looks uncomfortable,” she giggled, looking at Jude’s head hung over the armrest and his legs tangled up in the arm divider between his seat and Zayden’s.
Felix, who was sitting next to her, looked away from his book and over at him with a soft smile. “He always gets tired on trips. He’s gifted with the ability to sleep anywhere without a single complaint.”
“That’s definitely a gift.” She looked away from Jude and over at Felix’s book. “Do you always read on trips?”
