“And what’s that?”

“A huckleberry malt.”

I chuckle as she beams a smile at me.

“I think I might know a place we could stop at after this.”

“Really?”

“Yep. The group and I used to go there all the time for lunch. They will have what you’re looking for.”

“I hope so.”

“They also have the best cheeseburgers and chili cheese fries you could want.”

“Oh, that sounds amazing.”

“Let’s pick through our food here and head there on the way back.”

“I wasn’t puking my brains out.”

“Close enough.”

“You know,” I insert myself into their conversation, “I’m not sure what Hero was going to ask, but I am curious as to why you never said anything to me. We talk constantly, remember?”

She pins me with a glare and groans. “Because.”

“That’s not an answer.”

“That’s not an answer.”

Hero and I share a look of annoyance. Great. Now we’re making the same remark.

“Because it’s just a symptom of the first trimester. It will pass. And I told you, it’s not like you can do anything about it.”

“You’re in the second trimester now,” I point out.

“So? It’s just taking a little longer than expected.”

“This is one more reason why I think we should move in together.”

“What?” Hero snaps. “I thought you two were already living together.”

“Nope. She doesn’t think it’s right.”

“And you do?” he asks me.

I nod.
