She stops at the top of the stairs but doesn’t look at me.
“I’m sorry.” And just like the last time she said those words to me, my heart sinks.
If I can’t find a way to get through to her, there’s no way I’ll be able to keep her.
CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE
CALLA - VEGAS
“Holy shit, we’re married,” I say, tucked under Beck’s arm. He kisses the top of my head and then spins me and presses me against the wall. He cups my ass and lifts me to wrap my legs around him.
His lips are on my neck, then my chest.
“Let’s go to your room,” I tell him.
“My thoughts exactly.”
He lets me down and clasps his hand in mine as we head for the elevators.
“When should we tell Simon?” he asks.
“Definitely tomorrow. He’s probably asleep, and I don’t want to wake him or Grey right now.”
“Oh my gosh,” Beck says and stops. “I’m an uncle now.”
I laugh. “Technically, yes.”
He chuckles and tugs me along. Giddy, I latch onto his arms and walk beside him. I’m a married woman, and I’m not scared about it one little bit.
“This is just so crazy. I love kids. All the kids, and now I have a nephew and when we…”
I can hear him talking, but a heat wave rushes through me, and every part of me begins to sweat as my heart races.
Reminding me of my past. Reminding me that there are things he doesn’t know. A future he won’t have. Of... of…
“I have to pee,” I cut him off and run into the bathroom.
CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO
BECK - VEGAS
I’m a married man.
Beck and Calla Robertson.
Honestly, this is probably the best decision I ever made. Maybe all my choices from here on out need to be quick. No overthinking. If I want it, I take it.
I lean my head back against the wall and grin like a fool. All these people inserting their tickets into machines, hoping to win more money than they lose, have no idea how my life just changed for the better.
The guys are going to flip when I tell them.
I pull my phone from my pocket and open the group text.
No, that’s lame. I’m not telling them in a text.
Especially not Simon. Hell, he’s going to freak out when we tell him. I married his little sister, for crying out loud. He won’t be particularly impressed with me.
A woman passes me, yelling at someone on the phone as she walks into the bathroom where Calla is currently.
