“You’ve got less than two weeks’ notice. Emily’s going to have to assemble a playlist, make sure that the music rights have been cleared, along with set aside time that she could be doing other things to do rehearsals and tech runs.” She ticked off each obstacle and annoyance on her fingers. “You’re not just paying for a DJ for a night. Putting together a show like this can take months of work.”

He made a face, and she knew she had him.

“Fine.”

She smiled sweetly. “I’ll make the call.”

An hour later, Theo had his new headliner for Saint Patrick’s Day and Chloe had earned a nice commission, considering she was playing hooky. In all, it was a good day.

She smiled at him, the thrill of victory making her feel frisky. “So, I was thinking.” She eased closer to him, sliding her hand up his thigh. “We could skip Rockefeller Center.”

“Oh? And do what?”

She took his face in her hands and pressed her lips to his. “So we have this limo, and we never actually got around to having sex in it.”

His eyes darkened, and his voice became husky. “No, we did not.”

“I think that’s something we should remedy.” She kissed him again, this time more seriously.

When they surfaced for air, he asked, “Another check off your list?”

“Yep.”

“I could go for that,” he said and gathered her into his arms.

Chapter Twenty-Five

Asthecreditstoepisode four of Marrying Miss Mystery rolled, Theo had to concede that the sitcom was actually good. But even better than the show was the person he was watching it with. Chloe was nestled against his side, and Theo let himself forget, just for a moment, that this “whatever they had” was temporary.

He could get used to this. This whole making love in unusual places or trying new sex positions. He had to admit that his current favorite was reverse cowgirl with Chloe riding him while he watched her in the mirror hanging from the back of her door. Or was his favorite her going down on him in the back of a limo? Both were pretty spectacular.

Chloe was spectacular. Magnificent. Marvelous.

Despite having her in many different places in many different ways, he couldn’t seem to get enough of her. He felt like he was stocking up on memories of their time together, so when this inevitably ended, he’d be able to survive without her.

Hitting pause on the remote, Chloe climbed into his lap, straddling him. “So,” she said, “how are you liking the show?”

“It’s not bad.”

“Which in Theo-speak means ‘it’s bloody brilliant.’” She bopped him on the nose.

He grinned, grasping her hips and pulling her closer to grind against his erection. “You know me too well, Glowy.”

She screwed up her face at the nickname, but he wasn’t about to stop using it. Not when it fit her so perfectly. “You should be nicer when talking about the woman who saved your big Saint Patrick’s Day extravaganza,” she said.

“Are you talking about yourself or Emily?”

“Both.”

She wasn’t wrong. The Saint Patrick’s Day event had gone off better than he’d expected. Who knew that cute actresses who beat-match with the best of them were so popular? MTV had been ecstatic with the results, and Alto had raked in some great reviews.

As she bent to kiss him, the intercom buzzed.

“Are you expecting anyone?” Theo asked.

She shook her head as the intercom buzzed again.

“Impatient, aren’t they?” she said rhetorically. She climbed off his lap and went to the intercom, pressed the button, and asked, “Who is it?”
