Daisy is gorgeous. I’ve had gorgeous women before—supermodels, for fuck’s sake—so why has she caught my eye?

I push up from my chair and march from the office. I’m going to find out why she’s here. If she’s hoping I’ll finish what I started last week and fulfil some kind of twisted little fantasy she may have going on in her head, I’m happy to take her to my room.

An hour with her and I’ll be satisfied.

Before I make my way down to the main floor, I head over to the bar on the ob deck to check in with Natasha. Even though I’ve told Lincoln to, I want to see her for myself. She’s sliding a tray of cocktails across the counter to a server. Once the tray is gone, she rubs a hand along her lower belly, her eyes squeezing shut.

“Tash,” I call out.

Her eyes spring open. “Hey, Chains, can I get you a drink?” She smiles, or more like grimaces.

“No thanks. I want you to go home. You need rest.”

She shakes her head. “I still have two more hours left of my shift.”

“I don’t care. Go home,” I order.

“Linc has already tried to bully me into leaving. It didn’t work.”

I place my palms on the counter. “If I fire you, you’ll have to leave.” I use a tone that saysdon’t fuck with me, anddo as you’re told.

She giggles, not intimidated at all. “No, you won’t.”

No, I won’t. I sigh with resignation. “You’re fucking stubborn. Take a break.Now. I’m not taking no for an answer.”

She wipes her hands on a cloth. “Aye, aye, boss.” She playfully salutes me.

Jogging down the stairs, I nod a greeting to the security guard watching the entrance of the ob deck. I don’t stop for small talk. There’s something more important I need to do—or should I saysomeoneI need to find.

The last place I saw Daisy was at the bar, but when I get there, I’m disappointed to see she’s gone. I rub the back of my neck. Where is she? What if she’s already left the club, and I never got the chance to talk to her? What the fuck am I thinking?Talk to her? I want my hands on her body. That’s all.

Scanning the room, I push through the crowd, ignoring the looks of appreciation from a couple of women I pass and a hand rubbing down my ass from another. There’s not an ounce of interest from me. Not when Daisy may be in the room. A few moments later, I spot her. Again, it’s like a beacon of light is shining down on her. She stands out more than any woman in the club. On the dance floor, with her friend, her ponytail swishes from side to side as she moves to the beat.

I take my time watching her. She smiles and laughs, seeming more relaxed than the first night she came here.

A man approaches them. I know the look on his face: pure lust. He’s on the prowl and hoping they’re his next victim. My body tenses. Not if I can help it. No way will I let him lay a finger on Daisy.

She’s mine.

I shake my head. I need to calm down.

She’snotmine.

When the man approaches, he leans closer to Daisy’s friend and whispers something in her ear. I blow out a relieved breath. He’s not after Daisy.

Daisy’s friend shakes her head and points to Daisy. Maybe he’s asked her to dance, and she doesn’t want to leave her?

Between the two women, there’s a lot of hand gesturing like they’re communicating somehow. After a few seconds, Daisy makes a shooing gesture, and her friend gives her an ‘are you sure?’ kind of look. Daisy nods. Giving Daisy a quick hug, she waves and walks away hand in hand with the man.

Daisy watches them for a moment, before she turns and takes two steps. When she sees me, she stops short, looking left and right, like she’s searching for a quick getaway. Striding over to her, I block her way.

Dipping my head to her level, my lips skim her ear. “I knew you’d be back. Couldn’t stay away, could you?”

She lifts her face, and with eyes narrowing, she says. “It wasn’t my idea to come here. It’s the last place I want to be.” Her voice is sharp with irritation.

I cock an eyebrow. “Really? You’re drinking and dancing and seem to be enjoying yourself.” People are moving all around us, yet I’m so focused on Daisy, it’s like we’re the only two people in the room. “By the way, those tickets I gave you give you free drinks on the observation deck.”

With a tilt of her chin, she glances up to the bar. Even under the dim lights, I see her cheeks flushing red. She shuffles her feet, and I bet she’s thinking about what happened up there. Then it’s like a switch goes off in her head, and her eyebrows knit together. “Were you spying on me?”
