More shots follow me as I panic and close the door to Brian’s house behind me. I run around in confusion until I settle in the bathroom. I hug my body tightly as I rock back and forth in shock, lying against the cold tile floor with the helmet placed beside me, the low speaker letting me hear every word being spoken.

Then I watch myself from the corner of the room, as if my soul has slipped loose. I’ve heard this could happen. I just never thought it could happen to me.

Chapter 14

Brian

“I knew you wouldn’t shoot her, you didn’t even try,” I say as anger rises within me.

“It was worth seeing her freak out,” he says and smiles. The psycho fucking smiles.

“You’re insane,” I say, gritting my teeth. “Did you even know she was here? I heard the way your voice trembled when she said your name.” I question him as I pull my helmet over my head, facing the person who looks just like me.

“Hadno idea.”His tone holds no emotion whatsoever.

“Has her father not sent after her?”

“He has.”

“And?”

“I told him I haven’t found anything on her disappearing. Though the truth is, I haven’t really looked into it. Didn’t really bother. Kinda nice not having to hear her brag all the time.”

I’m going to kill him.

“Why did you come here?” I ask, making my way closer to him, my boots scraping against the ground with each heavy step.

“Needed to ask you something, but you’re obviously busy fucking your twin brother’s leftovers,” he smirks.

I punch him before I get the chance to think further, my fist hitting his jaw so hard I hear it crack. He fights back, bringing his gun forth. But I’m faster, I kick it out of his hand and grab him by the throat and lift him off the ground. Just like my father has done to me many times.

“We don’t have to do this, brother,” he says, blood dripping from his mouth.

“Oh, that’s where you’re wrong,” I say.

“It doesn’t matter what you do right,” he smiles. “They will always seemein the reflection of your eyes, along with everything I’ve done.”

I slam him into the ground, his skull nearly breaking as his eyes roll back.

“Satan is finally claiming me, after everything I’ve done for him!” The bastard speaks with excitement, still as insane as he has always been. And the sound of his sudden laugh scares me.

“Don’t blame your actions on Satan, this has always beenyouand nothing else. You’re the one who killed our mother, you’re the one who has been trafficking girls, you’re a rapist, a killer, a psychopath, manipulator...”

“And that’s why I love sharing a face with my angel of a brother, because you’ll never be pure. I’ll always live in the back of your head. I’ll always haunt you, haunther. Haunt everyone who will ever try to come close to you, Brian.”He laughs, and the sound is filled with an evil melody.

“I know she’s thinking of me when she sees you, even though she pretends not to. I’ve been by her side, carving myself into her soul for the past six years, only to ruin it all foryou.”

I grit my teeth so hard I know it’ll hurt for days. “You know what I hate more than I hate you? The fact that no one has come to try and take her back yet, and I know she feels it. What I hate even more, is that she has been my deepestdesire for as long as I can think of, while everyone else has been busy using her for their own benefit. You have all had her forso long, while I’ve been craving her in silence, in the shadows. Yetit ismy heartthat’s breaking to the thought of losing her.”

He only smirks. The sight of that careless smirk, just like the one he had the day he killed our mother, enrages me. Just like the one he had when he showed nothing but betrayal to Anastasia. Two women, whose love he did not deserve. Two women, who he destroyed.

The sight of his soulless eyes makes me reach for my gun, the sensation of the cold metal spreading through my palm. And just like that, I shoot.

I stumble backwards as the loud sound echoes through the forest, almost falling to the ground as I realize what I’ve just done. My brother lies before me, not moving, not fighting against me or spitting words to try and hurt me. He’s just there...dead.

My head spins as I grab my phone and call my father, not being able to stop the tears that run down my face. Thankfully, he picks up after a few seconds.

“Hello?” He says, but I’m not able to speak just yet.
