Undertaker stepped up and chuckled when Twyla handed him the beer that she was about to hand Jinx. “Thanks Hun.”

“Hey, that was my beer.”

“Sometimes it’s good to be president.” Undertaker said with a laugh.

Taking a pull on the beer Undertaker watched as Wolf and Rev stepped up to the bar and started talking about Constance France. His neighbor. Setting his beer down he leaned on the bar listening more intently.

“What’s Constance having an issue with?” Undertaker asked not liking the conversation that included her.

Frost and Jinx both looked over at him, but it was Frost who asked the big question, a question that he should’ve kept to himself. “How do you know her?”

Undertaker lifted a brow at the question, it felt almost accusatory. “Not that it’s any of your business, but I met her when she first moved into her place six months ago.” He told Frost firmly.“Now, tell me what’s going on with Constance.”

Jinx along with Frost explained what was happening with Undertaker’s neighbor and that Jinx knew her from offering to volunteering at the food bank.

“I was going to ask Cipher to put cameras up for her.” Jinx told Undertaker.

Taking a sip of his beer Undertaker watched the tick in Frost’s jaw. “Maybe we should leave it to her husband to take care of. Although the man never even poked his head out while we were there.” Frost said between sips of his whiskey.“If I had a wife that looked like her, I would make sure other men knew she was taken,” he added.

“Well, if you see her husband poke his head out, take a fucking picture. The man’s been dead for years according to Constance.” Undertaker said as he lifted his beer to his lips.

Frost’s head snapped around staring at Undertaker, whiskey choked him. “What did you say?”

“Constance France is a widow.”

“She could’ve said that.” Frost mumbled.

“What was that Frost?” Undertaker asked.

“Nothing.”

Undertaker chuckled hearing Frost. It seemed Constance France had made the man uncomfortable in the right way. Maybe something would come of it, and he’d stick around Broken Bow.

“Maybe, you could do some security at the food bank until we can find out who these assholes are that are bothering her.” Undertaker suggested to Frost.

“Is that a directive from the chapter president?”

“Take it anyway you’d like.” Undertaker said then sat the bottle on the bar and walked away leaving Frost to decide on his own what he should do.

Chapter Six.

It didn’t go unnoticed by Constance how ruggedly handsome Frost was. One quick scan of the room confirmed she wasn’t imagining it, several of the women working beside her were openly fanning themselves with loose sheets of paper and aprons, cheeks flushed, eyes lingering.

Constance shook her head, a slow smirk curving her mouth. He was absolutely fan-worthy. Especially his ass.Phew.It had been far too long since she’d truly appreciated an ass like that.

She waved the ladies off and returned to packing boxes for pickup, but her focus slipped the moment she glanced back. Frost was halfway up a ladder now, muscles flexing beneath his shirt as he helped Cipher hang the cameras. The movement was effortless. Confident. The kind that suggested he was always aware of the space he took up.

She tried to hide her smile and failed.

The door popped open, a woman stepping hesitantly inside with two young children clinging close. She paused just over the threshold, eyes darting around the room, uncertainty written across her face.

Constance immediately softened. She crossed the room with a warm smile and a gentle wave. “Come on in,” she said quietly, guiding the woman farther inside like it was the most natural thing in the world.

From the ladder, Frost watched her. Not the room. Not Cipher.Her.

The way Constance lowered her voice. The way she angled her body, so the woman didn’t feel exposed. How she crouched just enough to be eye-level with the kids, offering them a smile that promised safety without pity. Frost felt something settle in his chest. something solid. Familiar.

She does this every day,he thought. And still cares like it’s the first.
