The only problem was, he’d quickly get bored afterwards.
“I’m even tired of sex,” Jesse said. “Did you hear me? Tired. Of. Sex.”
“Suppose that’s a good thing. We’re almost out of condoms and I wasn’t sure how to ask Alex to pick us up more.” Bryce grinned in a way Jesse had learned meant he was joking. Some of Bryce’s jokes were very, very dry, and the tiny twitch of his lips in a suppressed grin was the only indicator he wasn’t serious.
“See, I thought you’d be getting tired of my cock,” Jesse replied.
Bryce glanced at Jesse, and there was heat in his gaze. “Not yet.”
One smoldering look turned into several delicious kisses and led them back into the bedroom. Jesse slipped out of his sweatpants and stripped Bryce of his before they climbed onto the bed. All too soon, they chased their erections into orgasms, and they sprawled on the bed, trying to reclaim their breath.
“Yeah. Okay,” Bryce panted. “You’re right. Sex is getting boring.”
“See? Itoldyou. And it’s not you. I love fucking you,” Jesse replied. “But if I have to stare at this ceiling one more day, I’m going to scream.”
“Love fucking me, huh?” Bryce said.
Jesse turned toward him. They lay on their sides looking at each other. The moment on the pavement, outside his apartment, when Bryce’s eyes were filled with fear for him, came back clear. Too clear. But Jesse didn’t feel the danger of that moment. A new kind of danger threatened his heart. That there might be a morning when he didn’t wake to Bryce next to him.
Jesse took Bryce’s hand, needing that bit of physical contact with him. “Maybe not just fucking.”
“That so?” Bryce said. He had a coy smile.
God, he was adorable and handsome. Jesse kissed him.
There was a half-hearted three-knock pattern on the front door, and that was the extent of their warning that someone was coming in. But the door shut with an all-too-familiar thud. “Brought food,” Alex called out. “Some more grunt work, and some candles, because holy shit, is it starting to stink in here.”
“You know what’s sad?” Jesse whispered to Bryce. “I’m actually ecstatic he’s here.”
“Now I know you’re restless.” Bryce kissed Jesse quickly. He shut the bedroom door before Alex could walk through it—he’d caught them once before—and said, “We’ll be out in a minute!”
“Gross!” Alex said.
“How is that gross?” Jesse asked, raising his voice to be heard.
“Because it’s noon, and if you’re not dressed there are reasons, and I don’t need to know them.”
“What if we’re lazy?”
“Way more likely you just had his dick in your mouth!”
“Actually, mine wa—”
“Don’t you dare finish that sentence,” Bryce growled.
From the other room, Alex made exaggerated gagging noises. Jesse laughed, and then somehow it was the funniest thing ever and he kept laughing.
Bryce got sucked into the laughter, though he took one of the pillows and lightly wacked Jesse in the face with it. “Stop. Get cleaned up.”
Jesse wheezed. “You should have seen the look on your face. I’ve seen fiercer kittens.”
Bryce wacked him again, but Jesse caught the pillow. When he leaned up for a kiss, Bryce gave him a quick peck before heading into the bathroom.
Yeah, getting to know Bryce wasn’t the problem. Hell, even spending all day every day together wasn’t that bad. But the same walls over and over and over were going to drive Jesse mad. He threw on a pair of sweatpants and cracked open the door to the living room.
“Hey, Alex.”
Alex was in the process of eating a string cheese with the fridge door wide open. He looked guilty as hell, until he spotted Jesse. Then he scrunched his nose and scowled. “Dude. Don’t ruin string cheese for me.”
