“Pipsqueak, we’re both naked and it’s morning, there’s no way I’m not going to be hard.”

“Well, I don’t have time for any of this, I need to get ready.”

“Don’t pull away from me, not after last night,” he whispers.

“I’m not.” But we both know that’s not true. Still, he lets me go with a sigh.

“I’ll make us a coffee while you get ready, then I’ll drop you at yours.”

“You don’t need to do that. You’re not going into work until later today, stay in bed. I can get a cab and grab something on the way to work.”

“Stop arguing with me all the time and let me do things for you.”

“Fine,” I huff as I make my way into the master bath to shower.

Yeah, I’m aware I’m being a bitch.

Twenty minutes later, I walk into the kitchen and take the coffee he holds out for me.

“Are you free for lunch today?”

“Possibly, I might be able to get away for a bit.”

“I miss you spontaneously popping into my office.” I can’t help but chuckle at his words.

He’s not wrong, I did randomly pop up when I was trying to get a reaction from him, and I definitely got one of those.

“It would have to be later than normal, though. Maybe around one, that okay?” I can’t seem to say no to this man, even if my mind is telling me I should.

“Any time, pipsqueak.”

I’m not letting her pull away from me, not after what we did last night, what she let me do to her, and the trust she put in me. She doesn’t get to take that away in the light of day. It’s why I asked her to meet me for lunch today. I need to keep picking away at her doubts, I need to show her that I’m here no matter what, that she’s who I want. For life.

After stopping by my building site to ensure everything is on track, I get into the office earlier than I had originally plannedthis morning, but there was no point in going back home once I’d dropped her off to get her car this morning. I reckon I’m one of the only one’s who’s being productive today, there are definitely a few sore heads this morning.

“Well done again on last night.” Nina pokes her head through the door of my office.

I know she means the award, but my mind goes straight to taking my girls ass, and I have to adjust myself in my pants at the reminder her words bring.

“Thanks, Nina.”

It’s going to bring a lot of business to the company; it might be my name on the award, but the company is going to benefit massively from it.

“Ava seems nice. I’ll be honest, though, I hadn’t realized you were dating.”

Am I aware that Nina is attracted to me? Yes, she’s made it obvious. Have I done anything to encourage her? No, absolutely nothing.

“We’ve known each other a long time, and she finally agreed to give me a chance.”

No way I’m admitting to Nina that we’re stepsiblings — I’m not ashamed of it, but it’s also something I’m not going to advertize.

“Well, she must have been mad to take that long. Any woman would be lucky to have you.”

“Trust me, I’m the lucky one.” She lingers in the doorway, not showing any intention that she’s going to leave.

“Did you need something else?” I really don’t want to give her any ideas at all.
