But alas, I had no choice.

Hurley trotted in first, even before Nayden got the nod from the warrior who had been in my flat checking it was clear for Tanyn and I to enter.

Tanyn and I followed, Nayden said goodnight, and I wandered into my flat, feeling like I’d been away from it for a year.

I also wandered in loving the decision Tanyn and I made to keep it.

Doing so meant—yes, he’d been right—when I was home, I could be home.

But also, keeping it felt like I wasn’t giving up as much.

In fact, it turned my thoughts on their head regarding the whole matter.

Yes, there were things I would miss.

But I’d gained Berg Castle, which was gorgeous. I’d also gained the citadel, where I’d only been once, but it was still special to me. And I had not only Tanyn, but all the beings he brought with him.

So maybe…

No definitely…

I was coming out ahead.

“You want a glass of wine?” Tanyn asked.

I knew what he wanted, because he’d dropped his overnighter and garment bag on the sofa and was moving directly to the wine closet.

Oh.

And I loved it that Tanyn felt so at home in my space, he knew he could help himself to the wine closet.

Hurley was lapping up the water in the water bowl I asked Mom to come over and put out for him when she’d come over to make sure all was good for Tanyn and I to arrive. Hurley was slopping the water all over the mat Mom had set it on.

Ditto with loving Hurley felt right at home.

“Yes,” I answered Tanyn about the wine. “But I’m going up to change and get comfortable.”

He sent me a wicked smile.

Okay.

That smile?

We could take a few sips of wine then I would pounce on him.

I wandered upstairs, then to my closet, programmed a lounge outfit (black ribbed leggings and a matching wraparound top that showed midriff and cleavage).

I went to the bathroom and saw the results of my trip-home preparations. The new spa-visor, mane-mate, cosme-mask and Denti-Clean boxes were sitting on the bathroom counter.

With an extra Denti-Clean for Tanyn.

I used the spa-visor, and by the time I wandered out of the bathroom into the closet, I saw Tanyn’s bags were on the bench there. The overnighter open, and he’d clearly pawed through it.

Nice.

This meant he was in his jammies.

On this thought, I came out of the closet smiling.
