“...they just work.”

Brilliant work, Gen.

I’ve probably managed to make myself look like a blithering idiot in my first meeting. I prayed for the ground to open up and swallow me, but Nikolai suddenly decided physical files vs. computer files was a conversation worthy of his attention.

“I would shoot a person if they asked me to write. Never took a single note in college and high school.”

Kazimir’s fingers inched higher, flirting with the spot where the rest of my skin disappeared into my dress.

I tried to move away, but his hand held me still. With the table high enough to conceal most of his arm, no one could make out his movement from the top nor could they see me squirming.

Heat climbed to my neck, and I had to bite the walls of my cheek to keep it down.

For someone who had been told she had the most expressive face all her life, this was the ultimate nightmare.

Could they see how frozen still I was, or my tightly locked jaw?

“…right, Gen?”

It was Kazimir speaking, but I couldn’t bring myself to look at him, so I blurted out the first thing that came to mind.

“Yes.”

“You hate computers that much?” I didn’t need to look at him to know his icy blue orbs were dripping with amusement.

“Guess I’m just old-fashioned,” I replied through a tight-lipped smile even though I had no idea what they were talking about.

I was seething and pissed at my body for reacting so strongly to him despite knowing exactly what he was doing.

He was showing me exactly why he hired me, and the moment someone tried to pull me into a conversation, he suddenly lost his ability to ignore me.

Thankfully, one of the men steered the conversation away from me.

Kazimir’s hand was yet to leave my thigh, but at least I didn’t have to talk through it.

But I did have to live through the way his touch burned through my skin and settled deep in my veins, and the way my pussy pulsed each time he made a little movement. I was embarrassed at the thoughts that formed in my head.

The man was a master of torture, and with no idea of when he’ll decide to proceed higher into my dress and the fear of him doing so and finding my soaked panties, I squeezed my thighs together to limit his movement and instantly regretted the action.

Jolts of current burst in my core, sending tributaries to the rest of me. I couldn’t hold back the shiver that followed.

“Are you alright?” The same man who engaged me earlier asked.

“I’m fine. Just recovering from a mild flu.” I was pleasantly surprised at how steady my voice came out despite the whirlwind brewing inside me.

For some reason, I decided to look right and met Nikolai’s never-ending amusement.

I’d never prayed for a meeting to end so badly.

For the first time since the day started, something finally went my way.

Kazimir’s hand left my thigh and cold air replacing his warmth forced me to the present.

All three men were standing when I regained my senses. I joined them.

“It was a pleasure meeting with you, gentlemen.” The man who had spoken to me earlier shook hands with Nikolai and Kazimir before turning to me. “I hope to see more of you and your interesting journals, Gen.”

I mirrored his pleasant smile. “It was nice to meet you, too.”
