No extended firefight expected.
No major resistance.
Just another operation for a team that had completed hundreds of them.
At least, that was what the intelligence briefing claimed.
Commander James “Rook” Callahan wasn’t convinced.
The helicopter shuddered beneath his boots. Metal groaned while rotor blades hammered through the cold night air.
Red light washed across the nine men packed shoulder-to-shoulder inside the aircraft.
Nine Navy SEALs.
His team.
His brothers.
His family.
And right now, they were acting like idiots.
“You still owe me fifty bucks.”
Caleb “Sniper” McDougal didn’t look up from the rifle across his lap.
Hammer grinned. “No, I don’t.”
“You do.”
“I don’t.”
“You absolutely do.”
Sniper sighed dramatically before glancing across the cabin. “Fathom, tell him.”
Michael “Fathom” Sarrilla never looked up from the tablet balanced on his knee.
“You owe him.”
Sniper stopped checking his rifle. His head slowly lifted.
“You know, one day somebody’s going to punch you.”
“No, they won’t.”
“Why?”
“Because I’m right.”
